Who says vegan food needs to cost a bomb? This entirely vegan coffee shop in Geylang offers a myriad of local delights — think mala, wanton mee and more. A full meal here will set you back around S$5, so it’s really wallet-friendly as well. Plus, vegan bak kwa is also available at their retail store next door! However, do note that like most coffee shops, each stall may operate on their own schedule, so be sure to check before heading down.

2. Back to Eden

If the first thing that pops into your head when you think about vegan food is salad — think again!

Back to Eden will introduce you to a paradise of unique vegan dishes, including mala lotus root chips with Lao Gan Ma mayo (Holy Chips, S$11.90), crispy Rosti (S$21.90) with a soy-based “scrambled egg” that tastes exactly like egg mayo, and fried Oyster Mushroom Berempah (S$11.90) that’s probably more addictive than any fried calamari you’ve tasted.

Kallang residents are definitely very onn’z about Onn Vegetarian — ask them what’s the best vegetarian stall in the area and they’ll most likely name this humble stall inside WuFu Coffeeshop. Even with irregular opening timings, what keeps the customers coming back is the fresh experience with daily changing menus feature new vegetarian and vegan dishes to try almost every day.

27. Yi Su Pin Vegan 一素品

You’ve probably heard of this famous Indian vegetarian restaurant in Little India. With its long history of 76 years and having earned praise from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, it’s no surprise that Komala Vilas is listed as one of Singapore’s Heritage Brands. 

A cup of fragrant Filter Coffee (S$1.50) paired with Onion Rawa Dosai (S$5.30) or Poori (S$4.70) is usually the breakfast of choice of most visitors.

32. bamboo bowls

This is your chance to try out celebrity chef-crafted bowls that are inspired by famous cities across Asia. MasterChef Singapore judge Bjorn Shen’s Saigon bowl (from S$10) sees lemongrass tofu on Vietnamese rice noodles, while his Kyoto bowl (from S$10) has brown rice topped with kosho oyster mushrooms and other savoury ingredients.

I didn’t know that vegan and vegetarian hotpot existed until I learned about New Fut Kai Vegetarian Restaurant. They have really unique charcoal hotpot in five flavours, including Yuzu Coconut Miso, Laksa, Herby Tomato, Soymilk Miso and Fish Head! Pair the hotpot with crowd favourites like Xinghua Fried Beehoon and Pumpkin Butter Mushroom.

34. Lilac Oak

This minimalistic vegan cafe proves that being allium-free doesn’t mean minimal taste. Their dishes and desserts are anything but minimal — every bite is a burst of flavour and will surprise even your non-vegan friends.

Here’s a few hints to what you can expect at Wakamama: cosy, intimate, and a customised menu. That’s right, Wakamama is a vegan omakase! It’s gluten-free and optional alliums-free as well. Each private dining session will be a surprise as the menu is based upon seasonal ingredients.

Botanict is your answer to vegetarian and vegan Nyonya cuisine. We’ve got another hidden gem in Chinatown, literally. Lian Xin is a vegetarian food court hidden in the basement of the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple, serving affordable cai fan, western food like tomato truffle pasta, curry noodles, desserts and drinks. The stalls operate with daily menus rotating weekly, and it only costs S$5 to get a three-course meal at the Western food stall.

40. Kunthaville

Last but not least, Kunthaville serves vegan-friendly Ceylonese (Sri Lankan) cuisine in an elegant colonial-style conservation shophouse. Start off with Kunthaville’s Spicy Beetroot Cutlets with Mango, Avocado, and Green Salad in Lime Mustard (S$12) and Jackfruit Rolls (S$14) or whet your appetite with their Sweet Gundappam (S$14) that comes with a coconut chambal (sambal) and coconut milk.

If there’s one song most of us would be able to identify from the first sentence alone, it would be this iconic piece from The Little Mermaid — especially since this is one of those fairytale stories we grew up with. 

Because of that show, I’ve always wanted to see a mermaid IRL. If you can relate, The Mermaid at ORTO West Coast is the place to go if you want to dine and watch mermaid shows at the same time! 

From the moment you step into the restaurant, you’re bound to feel like you’ve just entered the underwater world — think blue tones, coral lights, and more. 

While The Mermaid offers ocean-themed items like Grilled Whole Squid (S$18), Seafood Stew (S$42), and more, their menu largely focuses on alcoholic beverages. 

We’d recommend starting your experience with dishes like their Burrata Salad (S$22), which came with roasted watermelon, cherry tomatoes, and brown butter vinaigrette. My dining partner and I particularly enjoyed the “Fish & Chips” (S$16), which isn’t your average deep fried fish — rather, it features snapper rillette atop crispy potato pave. 

Drinks-wise, you’ll find yourself utterly spoilt for choice. Whether you’re looking for cocktails, wines, beers, or other spirits, there’s defo something for you. Fellow girlies, they’re even giving away one free tiger soju tower (U.P. S$58) for every group of four ladies on Wednesdays. 

Now, for the main draw — the mermaid performances. I’m not exaggerating when I say that this was one of the most magical moments of the night!

For about ten minutes, get ready to be spellbound as the mermaids swim together in perfect harmony, blow kisses, and strike the cutest poses. Be sure to come for dinner (or for post-dinner drinks) to catch them in action, since they only perform at night. 

Pro tip: Call in to reserve a table near the stage so that you get the best view of the mermaid performances!

Trust me when I say that the deluxe experience starts right from the moment you exit the lift lobby — with an impressive floor to ceiling glass alcove, cascading greenery, and a swim up bar, it’s hard not to feel bougie!

The main draw of this bar is The Verandah Sundown, which’ll give you the ultimate pool dining experience. At just S$98++ for two, you’ll get a floating tray complete with six delectable bar bites and four alcoholic beverages. 

Yes, you heard right — four drinks! You’ll be getting two glasses of Prosecco, house wine, or draft beer, and another two house cocktails of your choosing. Considering how expensive alcohol (and especially cocktails) is in Singapore, I’d say you’re definitely getting your money’s worth. 

As for the food, you can expect dishes like fresh oysters, crabmeat remoulade in mini cones, mini sliders, ribeye steak bites, and more. All of them came in bite sizes and were pretty easy to eat in the pool, so you won’t have to worry about things getting messy — especially if you’re on a date.

The entire experience was really enjoyable, and I really felt like I was on vacation! NGL, the food tasted extra good as I lounged in the water and took in the beautiful sunset from the infinity pool.

If you’ve a larger appetite (like I do), consider ordering from their a la carte menu to enjoy poolside. Think Wagyu Beef Tartare (S$16), Charcuterie Board (from S$24), and more — plus, you can also order specialty handcrafted cocktails (S$25 each) like Sundown on Queenstown and Gillman’s Garden (my personal fav), which was an oh-so-refreshing interpretation of an apple vodka martini.

If you’re looking for authentic products as well, you’ll be delighted to know that you can get premium sesame oil, plum extract, and more — direct from Korea.

After multiple rumours, it’s just been confirmed. The queen herself has announced that she will be performing at the Singapore National Stadium for six shows on 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, and 9 March 2024. Sure seems like the stuff of our wildest dreams. 

The last time she made a stop here was in 2015, so it’s been almost an entire decade since we’ve been graced with her presence. From what we know, it’s pretty worth it to splurge on her shows since the Eras concerts have been about three hours long so far. Seriously, we’re going to be absolutely enchanted.

Plus, the talented singer-songwriter’s shows are filled with insane visual effects, mesmerising costume changes, and so much more — I don’t know about you, but I’m all ready to book my tickets! 

Ticket presales for Taylor Swift The Eras Tour start at 12pm on 5 July 2023. To be eligible for the presale, you’ll need to be a UOB cardmember.

For those of you who aren’t able to take part in the presale, you can register interest for the general sales from 12pm on 23 June to 12pm on 28 June 2023. You’ll need have to join a virtual queue to enter the site — but no worries, because it’s not based on a first-come-first-served basis — you just need to register your interest within those five days.

However, do note that being registered doesn’t guarantee you tickets! Registered fans selected will receive an email on 5 July 2023 with more information on how to access general sales on 7 July 2023, including a unique access code that will only allow fans to purchase up to a maximum of four tickets per code.

Don’t lose hope if you don’t get selected, though — you’ll be put on a waitlist, which means that you’ll receive an email inviting you to purchase tickets if there are any left over (or if more shows are added… fingers crossed).

Ticket prices start from S$108, and there’ll also be VIP packages available.

Chances are, tickets are going to be highly coveted — I mean, we’ve just seen Coldplay sell out six shows as well, and this is Taylor’s only stop in Southeast Asia — so get ready for war, fellow swifties!

While the stall at Holland Village opened in April 2023, they actually already have three other existing outlets (and more to come!) — a testament to their success, if you ask me. Jia Li Seafood serves up a myriad of dishes, but there’s one main thing behind most of their offerings — its addictive and umami seafood broth. 

This isn’t your standard fish soup either, since they actually use premium ingredients like Japanese dried scallops, pork ribs, chicken, and more. The result? An MSG-free broth that’s full of flavour. 

We got to try their signature Seafood Soup with Batang (from S$9), which featured generous servings of batang fish, fresh prawns, and meatballs. 

Now, I’m usually not a fan of batang because it tends to be a little on the tough side. However, Jia Li’s fish was tender and fresh with little to no hint of fishiness. My only gripe was that the soup was too salty for me, which ended up masking the broth’s flavour. 

Feeling a little boujee? Go for the Seafood Soup with Crayfish (from S$17), where you’ll get fresh crayfish alongside the same basic ingredients. We opted for the red grouper option, which was the priciest option on the menu at S$23.50 for the entire bowl. 

I don’t know about you, but I usually don’t spend above S$20 for a meal at a coffee shop — so I was curious to find out if this bowl was worth its price tag. I was actually pleasantly surprised to find a few pieces of crayfish and generous amounts of red grouper and prawns within the bowl! 

If you’re looking for more affordable options, the stall also has dishes like Yong Tau Fu Soup (S$7), Seafood Bee Hoon (S$8), and more.

If you’re looking for value photobooths in JB, this is for you. Located in Eco Galleria, this self-photo studio offers single (15 minutes) and double (30 minutes) sessions for two — and you can even add RM10 (~S$3) to snap photos with your furkid. However, do bear in mind that the studio is Muslim-friendly, so dogs aren’t allowed.

Single sessions will set you back RM30 (~S$9), and include two soft copies and two printed photos. However, whenever I’m at these photobooths, I usually find myself needing more time to choose poses and get into position. If you can relate, go for the double session that’ll set you back just RM50 (~S$15) — you’ll also get three soft copies and three printed photos.
