Coming fresh from the land where self-photobooths first originated, Pickypic has finally landed in Singapore – with not one, not two, but three outlets across the island. 

If you’re an avid K-pop fan, you might be familiar with them because they host frequent K-pop events for idols such as BLACKPINK, ITZY and more. But what sets them apart from the crowd is their use of the top-notch Korean filter to enhance your features — and boy did they really nail that filter (I have never looked more flawless than this). 

Price-wise, each 4R print (four or six frames per print) is S$10, and two photo strips (three or four frames per print) also cost S$10. You can also have additional photo strips printed for S$10 each.

2. Solace Studios

The wildly popular Solace Studios debuted their two-storey photo studio in Haji Lane last November, which featured not one but two new concepts — a low-angle self-photobooth and an elevator-themed photobooth — alongside their regular and wide-angle photobooths. 

The attention to detail in the elevator-themed photobooth, in particular, is on point — it’ll look and feel like you’re actually in a lift!   

Solace Studios also has a unique fisheye lens, and the photos were really a major throwback to the 2010s. This would definitely be more fun when there are more people in the photo, so make sure to drag all your friends down and get “stuck in the lift together”! 

If you’re planning to keep it simple, Solace Studios also has five regular photobooths located at level one of the studio for you to take more “tame” pics. 

Price-wise, both the fisheye and low-angle, you can go for two strips of two or four frames for S$12 or a multi-frame strip where you can choose between one, two, four, or six frames for the same price. You can even take ID photos here for just S$10.

3. Solace Studios: Airlines

Solace Studios’ unique concept, Solace Airlines, is the first airplane-themed self-photobooth in Singapore. We reckon this would be a great hit for those who have been hit heavily by the travel bug (myself included). 

The entire space is decorated to look like an airport, complete with the iconic yellow directional signage — the attention to detail here is really spot on. Level up your “toilet selfies” at any of the three airplane lavatory–inspired rooms equipped with a high and wide-angle camera.

The airplane-themed photobooths also come with special frames that look like your boarding pass, except with your face on it — honestly, it looks very legit. There’s even a frame that looks like the baggage tag. 

Price-wise, you can go for two strips of two or four frames for S$12 or a multi-frame strip where you can choose between one, two, four, or six frames for the same price.

4. Solace Studios: Vintage Theme [NEW]

Another unique concept launched by Solace Studios is the Vintage-Inspired outlet at The Cathay. It comprises five new themed rooms—Flipbook, Newspaper, Vinyl Lounge, Living Room and Express Luxury Train. 

Starting with the Flipbook Room, you and your friends can capture your photos in motion. Instead of a photo strip, you’ll receive a flipbook that shows your movements as you flip through it. 

Next, the Newspaper Room is perfect for our aspiring journalists. The interior carries a vintage vibe, with its old-fashioned red-brick wall, photodrop and props that let you dress up as a traditional wife. 

After snapping your photos with your friends, you’d expect to get a vintage black-and-white photo strip. Wrong—you’ll actually get an A3-sized print of you and your friends in a newspaper layout. 

You can even choose one of the four headlines, such as Hot Girl Summer, Missing, Solace Studios at The Cathay, or Love Is In The Frame, each capturing that ‘90s newspaper vibe perfectly. 

Shoutout to vinyl collectors, the Vinyl Room is made for you! Expect arrays of vinyls against a vibrant red backdrop, a brown leather couch, a vinyl player, and speakers overhead. The entire setup feels like a true-blue studio room.

A cosy spot filled with leather sofas and bookshelves may look like a resting corner, but it’s actually Solace Studios’ Living Room booth. 

Settle onto the sofa, gather your friends and snap a few home-themed shots. For the couples waiting on their BTOs, these make a cute housewarming gift for yourselves. Meanwhile, for larger friend groups, it’s the perfect chance to re-enact your favourite moment from the ever-iconic American show, Friends. 

The last installation is the Express Luxury Train room. Straight out of a Ghibli-style animation movie, it gives off a wanderlust vibe, especially if you love travelling. 

With Solace Studios’ wide-angle camera, the room captures you and your friends as if you were in a moving train cabin.

Each room captures an iconic school moment, giving you the choice to geek out as a mad scientist or join the school’s basketball team.

6. Solace Studios: Aquarium, Business Airline, NYC Subway [NEW]

Wondering what to do in Jewel Changi Airport? Other than the Disney photobooths in the basement, you can also check out Solace Studios’ outlet and its three iconic themed rooms—Aquarium, Business Airline, and NYC Subway. 

Similar to the Solace Studios’ Airline room in Haji Lane, the Business Airline room features airplane windows and two larger-than-economy seats. You and your friend can pose with their iconic luggage props to live out your Business Class dreams.

If you’re excited to visit the Oceanarium instead, step into the Aquarium room— you’ll be able to snap photos with fish “swimming” around you. Do note that the room may occasionally be under maintenance, but you can always return another time to take even prettier shots after your Oceanarium visit.

Are you a big fan of the Everything, Everywhere, All at Once (EEAO) movie? If yes, skip Solace Studios’ Laundrosnap outlet at Haji Lane and head straight to VivoCity’s outlet. 

While it isn’t the first laundromat-themed photobooth created by Solace Studios, it’s the only one featuring the iconic movie line: “In another life, I would have loved just doing laundry and taxes with you.” 

Beyond the laundromat room, VivoCity also offers the Vintage Lift and NYC Subway Train rooms. There’s even a complimentary Receipt Photo booth available for everyone.

Our favourite room is definitely the Sliding Train Doors Cabin, especially for posing as dramatically separated lovers from a corny K-Drama show. Whatever poses you come up with, you and your friends will surely have a great time.

9. Look Here Photo Studio 

Joining the slew of self-photobooths in Singapore is Look Here Photo Studio, with a spacious shop space, four booths and over 20 Y2K frame designs to choose from. 

Conveniently located in CityLink Mall, Look Here Photo Studio, which was previously a pop-up, now offers four booths — two regular photobooths and two wide-angle booths (also known as the Gen Z selfie). They’ve also got some very cute and quirky frame designs, an adjustable photo machine, adjustable filters, and so much more. 

Price-wise, each print costs just S$10, with an additional S$2 for any extra prints you need. If you love taking pics (of yourself) or with friends, you’ll definitely have a ton of fun here.

10. Photobytes

Photobytes is one of the more popular self-photo studios along Haji Lane. Not only are they pet-friendly, but they’re also a go-to for many looking to take professional self-shoot sessions.

Their unique darkroom photobooth certainly looks legit, featuring decor and pieces of equipment like vintage film cameras, bottles of “development” chemicals, a glowing red safelight, and even an enlarger (also called a projection printer).

Each 15-minute session entitles you to an unlimited number of shots for S$20 with a maximum of four people — which, if you come in a group of four, each person only pays S$5. There are six unique frame designs with both coloured and B&W options to choose from, so it’s up to you to see how many different frames you can get within the time period!

11. Pixie Loft

Pixie Loft is another crowd-favourite with their affordable rates at just S$10 for one hour for unlimited shots. There are also six different themes for you to choose from.

Channel your inner criminal with the jail-cell themed room or hop down the rabbit hole at their Alice in Wonderland themed room. The themes of the rooms change from time to time, which makes each visit even more exciting. 

Price-wise, it only costs S$10 for each person to use the studio for an hour, and it even includes a customisable photo strip for each person. Come in a group of four or more, and it’ll cost just S$8 per person. 

At the end of each session, you’ll get to choose the best pics from your photoshoot to be printed on the photo strip, and have the rest stored in your phone for keepsake. You can also print more pics for just S$2 each strip.

12. Dollop Print Club

Remember the good ol’ days when neoprints were all the rave? Well, Dollop is pretty much this generation’s equivalent. They put a playful and whimsical spin on the classic photo strip by giving you quirky themed-photo strips along with stickers for you to customise your photo strip. 

Each session will cost just S$10, and you can choose to have it printed on two photo strips or on a single 4R photo print. You’ll also get a complimentary GIF file — I love it when photo studios give a GIF file so I can post them onto my IG story. 

Dollop has plenty of photobooths spread across the island, and they’ve even opened one across the border in JB! 

With Bruno Mars’ concert coming up, Dollop has also released a special Bruno Mars-themed photobooth complete with Bruno-inspired photo strips — definitely a must for those going to the concert.

13. Dollop Print Club: Pit Stop & Mini Mart [NEW]

Launched in November 2025, Dollop Photo Studio has opened a new outlet in *SCAPE Orchard featuring its Pit Stop and Mini Mart rooms. 

Where is the Pit Stop room? It’s actually inside a life-size car. Take a seat as the designated driver and let the camera swivel around on a moving gimbal. If you’re worried about the photo quality, don’t be—everything comes out crisp and clean. 

The entire area is also decorated to give off Formula 1 Race vibes, which is extra endearing if you’re still reminiscing about Lando Norris’s big win back in October 2025. 

Right beside it is Dollop’s Mini Mart room, stocked with shelves of items you’d find in your local Sheng Siong supermarket—potato chips, confectionery, vegetables, and more. 

Grab a snack (or two) and snap away within the Mini Mart. Since the camera is wide-angled, it helps to pre-plan your shots before jumping in. 

Price-wise, both concept rooms offer photo strips for S$10, which is decently affordable considering the mechanics involved.

14. Hana Film

Hana Film offers the full Korean-inspired photobooth experience, complete with cute props and a wide selection of frame designs in shades of white, blue, black, and pink. 

Like most photobooth concepts in Singapore, there are three different photo types to choose from — Strips (S$10 for two copies), Multi-Cut (S$10 per copy), and ID Photo (S$10 per copy), all of which come with free soft copies and transparent photo pouches.

Those visiting in a larger group can get additional copies priced at S$2 each.

Life 4 Cuts is an affordable and minimalist Korean instant photobooth with prints that cost just S$10 for two strips. Unlike many others on this list, this photobooth is considered to be one of the OGs, especially since it hails directly from Korea. 

They host frequent K-POP themed events too, so K-POP fans make sure to check out their socials to see if your favourite idol will be featured here. 

You’ll be able to choose from the classic four-cut photo strip for just S$10 for two strips. There are also six- and eight-cut photo strips available at S$12 for two strips. Make sure you grab some cute props to make your photobooth experience even more quirky and chaotic — just make sure to put them back, don’t wanna ruin the fun for everyone else now, do we?

If you love visiting a photobooth, then you have to visit Moo Character Town in Jewel Changi, where the whole shop is filled with photobooths, more specifically, Disney-themed photobooths in Singapore.

There are a total of 15 different photobooths for you to choose from, ranging from Winnie the Pooh to Hello Kitty, Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and even Tsum Tsum — I bet the child in you is screaming right now. 

Price-wise, it’s just S$4 per session, and you’ll get two photo strips with your choice of frames — that’s S$2 per strip, what a steal! There’s a total of 120 different frame designs to choose from, so if you’re looking to collect them all, you can do so without breaking the bank!

No Cap 71 is by far one of the cooler kids in town. They have a very unique denim-themed photobooth that is decorated in denim from top to bottom. 

They have a new passenger and cargo lift-themed photobooth where you can recreate some chaotic moments or your hysterical meltdowns when (or if you ever) get stuck in the lift. Well, the verdict is in, and it looks like the fisheye lens is back in trend again. But don’t worry, fortunately, the 0.5X wide-angle is still available. 

From just S$5 per session, you can even bring your pets along for some fun as the studio is pet-friendly too! You’ll also receive GIF files of your photoshoot, which you can look back on and have a good laugh.

If you’re a frequent visitor of photobooths, you might be familiar with One Click Studio. These guys were one of the first photobooths in Singapore to offer the iconic and viral 0.5X wide-angle selfie — AKA the Gen-Z selfie. 

Whether you visit on your own or with a small group of friends, you’ll be able to experiment with different poses, choose your desired filters and frames, and go home with stunning photo strips priced at just S$10 each!

19. Haengbok Studio

Haengbok Studio is by far the most unique photobooth. Unlike your usual photobooths that print regular photo strips, Haengbok Studio prints transparent photo strips — how cool does that sound? 

Everything here works pretty much the same as any regular photobooth. Except, instead of seeing a fully printed photo strip, you’ll get one that’s slightly translucent. You can decorate the frames with free stickers too — so make it as quirky as you like. 

Each session is just S$6, and you’ll get two transparent photo strips. You can even turn your photo strips into a keychain for just S$9.90! Definitely a unique date activity to check out.

20. Standard Photo Studio [NEW]

Standard Photo Studio first appeared at the vintage market Resurrack Art Fair earlier this year. Now, they’ve established a permanent space in MacPherson, slightly away from the central areas. 

It’s worth the trip to the near east, as the studio offers three interesting concept rooms—Hawker Centre, Ball Pit, and the 2000s. 

Unlike Solace Studios and Dollop, which lean into vintage, modern concepts, Standard Photo Studio takes a localised approach with its Hawker Centre room. 

Decked with 1970s to 1990s posters covering washed-out green walls, the wide-angle camera hovers above you and your friend at the table. The table and chairs may not be realistically worn out, but the props look convincing enough to eat.  

Next on the list is the Ball Pit room. Here, you’re never too old to relive your childhood jumping into a sea of colourful balls. Before entering, you’ll be encouraged to remove your shoes and bring your props with you. Once you’re inside, make sure to position yourself towards the camera, or you might disappear under the sea of colours. 

Similar to Kacha-Kacha in JB, you can DIY your own keychain photo strips to remember your visit. The standard package includes unlimited photo strips and two DIY keychains with unlimited beads for just S$10. With a S$25 top-up, you can also bring home A3-sized printed photo strips.

21. Kyok Studios [NEW]

Kyok Studios joined the photobooth scene in mid-2025, and what makes them stand out is being the first-ever cinema-themed photo spot in Singapore. 

Take a seat on the classic red cinema chairs or pose by the ticketing booth for a clever, snappy shot. Not a big fan of the big screens? Kyok Studios still has you covered with three other photobooths—Classroom, Peephole, and Grey. 

Standard prices range from S$10 to S$12; however, they’re known to announce festive discounts on their social pages, so keep your eyes peeled for any updates.

22. The WeAre Photobooth [NEW]

Across the entire list, we’re introducing The WeAre Photobooth into our list. It also happens to be the lowest-priced photobooth recommendation (yet). Located primarily in Queensway Shopping Centre, the photobooth is available in three themes—Vintage, Digicam, and Postcard. 

Among the three themes, the Postcard is definitely a must-try. Instead of the conventional photo strips that showcase three or four photos, the postcard features one meaningful photo in a square, with space beside it for you to write your well wishes. This is perfect for couples or friends who are planning to emigrate and want to send well wishes to their loved ones back home. 

Other WeAre photobooths can be found at Woofie.co and Benjamin Barker Recreational Club—Woofie.co has a Flip Phone themed photobooth, but in terms of presentation, nothing tops the Postcard strip! 

All WeAre Photobooth prices are just S$6 per piece, and for a pair of strips, it’ll be S$12 total. It’s worth checking out at any outlet, but their Queensway outlet is somewhere not to be missed!

Illumination’s Minion Land is finally officially open at Universal Studios Singapore (admin is literally shaking in her boots right now).

Minion Land in USS features all-new attractions with multiple Minions-inspired roller coasters, USS-exclusive Minions carousel, themed retail and dining experiences and so much more!

True Despicable Me fans will find this name — Super Silly Fun Land — very familiar.

For the uninitiated, it’s the iconic seaside carnival from the movie. Well, you are now able to experience the same fun that Gru, Minions and the girls had in the movie too! Honestly, it looks incredible.

The carnival will feature the Buggie Boogie which is the first-ever Minion dance party-themed carousel. The ride will have you seated in a fleet of space bugs and silly creatures, boogie-ing to popular hits, remixed by the Minions themselves.

Here, you’ll also find the Silly Swirly ride where you’ll hop into quirkily-styled vehicles and soar into the skies.

If you successfully keep your eyes open throughout the ride, you’ll be able to catch magnificent views of the lagoon and the vibrant Super Silly Fun Land, you definitely don’t wanna miss that! 

And, make sure to hold onto your seats tightly, okay?

Here, they have two game booths.

In true Minion fashion, they have something banana-related here like the Ba-Na-Na CaBaNa! This game is bananas — B-A-N-A-N-A-S — and that’s all we will say about the game. 

But, of course, you simply can’t bring up Super Silly Fun Land without mentioning the iconic scene where Agnes goes absolutely berserk over the fluffy unicorn soft toy.

The Space Killer game is modelled after the “Super Silly Space Killer” arcade game seen in the movie. And yes, you can try your hand at this game and win Agnes’s fluffy plush unicorn with each attempt priced at S$8. 

Other attractions within the Super Silly Fun Land include the Super Hungry Food Stand, featuring minion-themed snacks as seen in the movie starting from S$6, and Pop-A-Nana for exclusive popcorn flavours at S$10.

I mean, the food was a hit the first time we went, and I can assure you it didn’t disappoint the second time either.

With limited seating, the establishment offers a cosy and intimate atmosphere — perfect for date nights or casual hangouts with friends over deep conversations. However, this also means reservations are a must, especially with their steady stream of loyal patrons.

Since OUD Restaurant is proudly marking their first anniversary, they’ve released a new menu. Not to worry, their signature woodfire-grilled specialties are still here but now with a fresh twist, featuring exciting new ingredients and flavours.

Each table is served a basket of focaccia made fresh in-house, with a special house-made butter. It was a blend of creamy, sweet, and savoury. If only this butter was sold in jar form, I would totally buy it to eat with my toast.

On the menu at OUD Restaurant are some interesting appetisers that are best enjoyed when you “Use ‘Em Hands”. We started off with the Caviar Cornets (S$11 per piece, minimum two pieces) — crispy cornets filled with creamy cheese and topped with luxurious caviar. While indulgent as expected, I felt the briny flavour of the cream cheese overshadowed the delicate oceanic notes of the caviar.

For a true taste of the restaurant’s signature citrus wood flavour, the Fire-Grill Unagi (S$10 per piece, minimum two pieces) is a must-try. Coated in a smoky barbecue sauce, the unagi is served atop crispy rice, giving it a sushi-like vibe. This was hands down my favourite appetiser of the bunch, perfectly balancing sweet and savoury.

Of course, you cannot not get OUD Restaurant’s signature OUD Fries. Unlike your regular thin cut fries, this one is a thick potato wedge that’s fried to a golden crisp and comes generously topped with your choice of Beef (S$5), Tuna (S$6), and Salmon (S$5.50). You can get all three at S$15, or for those who want to impress their dining partner, add a dollop of caviar (S$10).

Seafood lovers will enjoy the Atlantic Miso Cod Fish (S$38). A buttery fillet of cod is marinated in miso and roasted in corn husk. What can I say? The fish was melt-in-your-mouth tender and possessed a slightly intense and earthy miso flavour.

The Squid Ink Seafood Paella (S$48) should also be on your table, though I’d recommend enjoying it on its own as it leans toward the heavier side. With grilled rice topped with fire-roasted prawns and octopus, this dish is sure to satisfy your appetite.

For mains, you’ve to get the Argentinian Ribeye (S$40) with truffle sauce. But you can also choose to have it with peppercorn sauce for more tanginess. This was one of the best steaks we had during our last visit, and I’m confident it’ll be just as juicy and buttery this time around.

After enjoying a hearty meal, you’ll definitely want something sweet and tangy to cut through the richness. And coming from someone who usually skips dessert, I can confidently say their desserts were out-of-this-world good. We were served two treats — Grandma’s Banana Cake (S$16) and Mango (S$18) — and I honestly can’t pick a favourite between the two!

The former is a crowd favourite — a rich banana cake crowned with creamy vanilla ice cream, crispy banana skin, and a drizzle of caramel sauce. Meanwhile, the latter features a refreshing mango sorbet with fresh finger lime, topped with edible flowers and popping candy, all served in a real mango.

When it comes to drinks, there’s a fantastic selection of mocktails and non-alcoholic wines to choose from. The Mango & Lime Daiquiri (S$14) and Lychee Lagoon (S$12) especially caught my eye and will surely complement your meal perfectly.

If you’re looking for an affordable date-night spot with hearty grilled meats and seafood dishes, you know where to head to!

The post This Muslim-owned restaurant in Bugis has a refreshed menu featuring their signature fries with unique toppings, crispy unagi ‘sushi’, decadent fruit-based desserts and more appeared first on Confirm Good.

You might have heard of the name Hong Kong Day Cha Kee before. Well, they’ve since rebranded to Hong Kong Cha Kee serving not only the quintessential HK cha chaan teng breakfast classics, along with hearty sizzling platters for dinner! 

If there’s one thing that Hong Kong is best known for, it is their egg tarts, and Hong Kong Cha Kee’s Egg Tarts (S$2.20) certainly matches up to the OGs back in Hong Kong. 

I absolutely loved the buttery cookie crust which was slightly crumbly with just the right amount of butter. The egg custard on the other hand was velvety soft, with the perfect egg to custard ratio. My only gripe was that there was only one left when we visited — which shows how good and popular their egg tarts really are. 

Fun fact: the owners actually went to a specialised Cha Chann Teng School (I didn’t know these schools even existed) just to master the art of making iconic HK favourites like bolo bun, egg tarts and even milk tea. I guess it’s safe to say, they definitely did their masters proud with this one. 

Another cha chaan teng classic that simply cannot be missed is the French Toast (S$4.50). Unlike regular french toast, the ones served here come with a surprise centre — peanut butter! 

The french toast is generously coated with egg before it is fried to a crisp. It also comes with a thick slab of butter and maple syrup on the side, for you to adjust the sweetness to your liking. The crunchy peanut butter in the centre really adds a touch of nuttiness and a tinge of saltiness into the mix too. 

Come evening time, the cha chaan teng transform into a Hong Kong zi char  diner offering stir-fried classics like Stir-fried Fresh Prawns with Superior Soy Sauce (S$14.80), Braised Satay Beef with Enoki Mushroom and Glass Noodles ($13.80) and more. 

Our favourite was the Braised Fresh Prawn & Glass Noodle with Garlic (S$14.80). It comprises a generous serving of fresh prawns served with flavourful and fragrant glass noodles. The dish was garlicky, savoury and slightly peppery — the perfect combination of flavours. The prawns however could do with some seasoning to better complement the noodles. 

We also had the Braised Eggplant with Minced Pork & Salted Fish (S$14.80). This dish tasted very homey — almost like a grandma cooked it specially for us. As far as eggplant is concerned, it can either be a hit or a miss and I’m glad to report that this one was a hit. 

The eggplant was pretty well cooked — soft but not mushy. It came with a generous serving of minced pork and salted fish bits, making every bite a burst of flavours. Make sure to get some rice to pair with this dish as it can get a little salty if you eat it on its own. 

But of course, no meal at a cha chaan teng is complete without giving the Roasted Char Siew & Scrambled Egg on Rice (S$13.80) a go! The dish came with a generous portion of fatty char siew atop a nicely cooked scrambled egg and white rice which had been doused in a sweet sauce. 

Personally, I really enjoyed the egg and rice. However, I felt that the char siew was a little dry and lacked the smoky char to it. I wished that they had drizzled some of the sweet sauce over the char siew as well, to give it a little more flavour. 

In true Hong Kong fashion, Hong Kong Cha Kee also had iconic cha chaan teng drinks like the HK-style Milk Tea (from S$3.50), Coke with Salted Lime (S$3.50), Sprite with Salted Lime (S$3.50), Yuen Yang (from S$3) and more. 

I’m already making plans to head back for more egg tarts and the garlicky glass noodles with prawns. If you’re craving some authentic HK fare but no travel plans to Hong Kong yet, then Hong Kong Cha Kee is definitely worth a shot.

QQ Cat & Cafe has just opened their doors and you’ll definitely wanna add them to your list of cat cafes in Singapore! 

Located in Balestier, QQ Cat & Cafe is a new two-storey cafe that is dedicated to all things kitty related. I hope you’re ready for some cuteness overload because these chonky, furry kitties are definitely a force to be reckoned with! 

The first floor of QQ Cat & Cafe offers cat grooming services and a cat spa — yes, even cats have spas too. So, cat owners, if your kitty is in need of a haircut or deserves some pampering, you know where to bring them. 

There’s also pet food and supplies like catnip, cat shampoo and more importantly cat treats for you to stock up on too! I’d definitely use this opportunity to stock up on more cat treats to spare myself from being on the receiving end of some catty attitude. 

But we reckon, the second floor is where most people would be more interested in — especially since that’s also where you’ll find all the resident cats casually lounging around. 

The cat play area is home to QQ Cat & Cafe’s resident kitties and is decked out with various catifications, climbing structures and cubby holes for the kitties to play around in. The cats here are all really friendly, very playful and super adorable so don’t be surprised if you end up falling in love with them. There is also an entry fee of S$15 per hour — but trust me, it will be money well spent!

Cats in general do need some time to warm up to you but don’t worry, as long as you’re gentle with them, they will cosy up with you in no time. Pro tip: if you wanna get the kitties attention, try picking up some toys or teasers and you’ll slowly see them inching towards you. 

If you wanna have them sticking to you, you could also give them some chin and head scratches. While you’re at it, you can also give them some belly rubs — you’ll be tempted to once you see their furry bellies. Don’t forget to snap plenty of pics while you’re at it.

Apart from cuddling with kittens, QQ Cats & Cafe has an impressive cafe menu comprising hearty grub like British Pies (from S$13.90) and Pizzas (from S$15.80) alongside assorted cakes and pastries. 

Unlike most cat cafes, QQ offers something different when it comes to their drinks menu. Along with your usual cafe coffees, the cafe also offers beers and wines — you read that right. 

On QQ Cats & Cafe drinks menu, you’ll be delightfully surprised at the selection of Lagers (from S$11.80), Ale (from S$10.80), Stout (from S$12.50), and wines (from S$9) — just make sure you’re of legal age to drink, of course. 

As a proud westie, there are very few reasons that would get me to travel all the way to the East. But, just looking through QQ’s instagram already has me sold. I mean, just look at these cutie pies — how can you not pay them a visit? 

Need a reason to visit the east? This cat cafe may very well be the best reason.

That’s right, it might seem only recently that we have been seeing a spike in lala hotpot places popping up in Singapore, we have already moved on from lala to prawn. Chu Niang in Tai Seng is about to shake things up in the hotpot scene. 

Chu Niang is located in Tai Seng Exchange and serves soothing seafood broth, bubbling over a charcoal fire. 

But unlike any other traditional charcoal hotpot places, that often leave you drenched in sweat and smelling like a barbecue pit, Chu Niang boasts a cosy, air-conditioned environment that lets you enjoy all your hotpot goodness in comfort. 

Plus, they also use smokeless charcoal so you don’t have to worry about the smoke or smell — we love that. Fun fact: Chu Niang’s lady boss is a self-proclaimed hotpot lover, and that definitely shines through at her hawker stall. 

The stall is best known for their Charcoal Prawn Hotpot (S$29.80). Each pot comprises a generous serving of fresh tiger prawns — which can easily feed two to three pax — that have been marinated in hua tiao jiu, before being stir-fried and doused with a house-made seafood broth. 

If you want more prawns to go with your meal, you can add-on additional servings of Fresh Tiger Prawns from just S$10.80. 

Pro tip: let the prawns sit in the broth for 30 seconds at most and then dish them out. This way, you get to enjoy the prawns at its best and finest quality. 

Make this affair even more prawny by getting a serving of Prawn Paste (S$8.80) — yes, this classic hotpot ingredient is also available here too, who would’ve thought!

To enjoy the dish hot-pot style, Chu Niang has over 40 ingredients for you to add-on to complete your meal, including items like Snow Crab Leg (S$7.80), Fuzhou Fishball (S$6.80), Lobster Ball (S$5.80) and more.

Is it really hotpot if you don’t have some meats? Chu Niang also has an impressive selection of meats too like Beef Ribeye Slice Shabu (S$10.80), Pork balls (S$5.80), Beef Balls (S$5.80) and Smoked Duck Slices (S$8.80) amongst others.

I was really impressed with the quality of the ingredients offered here like the plump scallops (S$8.80), toman fish slices (S$7.80) and Beef Short Plate Slice Shabu (S$10.80) which were fresh and really added depth to the soup broth. 

Of course, no hotpot place is complete without some dipping sauces and here, you too can build your own sauces or have a go at their house sauces like the Thai Green Chilli, house-made chilli and more. 

Chu Niang also has a selection of fried snacks like Taiwan Sweet Potato (S$5.80) and Glutinous Rice Cake with Brown Sugar (S$5.80). 

But my favourite was definitely the Crispy Milk Roll (S$5.80). I loved the contrast between the crispy exterior and the soft, creamy interior that was just not overly sweet — definitely ordering this again. 

I have to say that this was my first time trying prawn hotpot. And while I was expecting a more prawn mee–esque soup base, I was still pretty impressed with Chu Niang’s broth. It was very aromatic and had a pretty strong seafood flavour. 

I’m definitely bringing my seafood-loving friends over to give this a go!

We all know how hard it is to score some NDP tickets to watch the parade live in action. But, for all of us who were not lucky enough to score tickets to the live shows, Singapore Discovery Centre has got your back! 

Taking place from now until 11 August 2024, the One United People special national day event by Defence Collective Singapore will have a series of NDP-themed activities for you to show that Singapore is home, truly. 

This special event is hosted by Defence Collective Singapore and much like the actual National Day parade, they will also be bringing their activities into the heartlands!

You’ll definitely wanna check out the exhibitions in the heartlands from 10 August 2024 as there’ll be exclusive merch to be redeemed including a special “chope” tissue packet that will certainly come in really handy, as well as cute stickers, tote bags and more! More details can be found here. 

Kicking things off, let’s all take a little trip around Singapore town and embark on a little self-guided tour to learn even more about our country’s deep history through interactive exhibits. 

There are a total of four trails, each taking place at the Singapore Discovery Centre, Airforce Museum, Singapore Navy Museum and at several National Day Heartland celebrations. 

At the end of each trail, you’ll get to redeem a special National Day commemorative magnet. Each magnet sports a different design that is unique to each location. Trust me, these magnets are so cute,  you’ll definitely wanna collect ‘em all!

Do you know all the words to our National pledge? Prove it at Singapore Discovery Centre’s interactive photo opportunity. Here, you’ll get to stand tall and proud on the podium and recite the National pledge as you get your pictures taken. 

Photo redemptions are available only while stocks last and are limited to one redemption per visitor. In essence, you only have one shot, so you better make it your best shot! Bonus points if you can say all the words smoothly and correctly in one go.

Of course, once you have your pretty photos printed, you’re gonna need a place to put it. Lucky for you, part of Singapore Discovery Centre’s One United People activities also includes a DIY photo frame. 

As its name suggests, you’ll need to get a little crafty and creative here. Make your own photo frame and decorate it with all things Singapore!

There’s even special activities for the little ones to enjoy including dramatised interactive story-telling sessions that will uncover the tales of Sang Nila Utama, the legendary swordfish attack, and more. 

Even the adults will be tickled by this — I know I was. And there were even stories that I haven’t even heard before! Each session will tell a different tale, so you’ll definitely wanna stick around for those. 

Since National Day is all about celebrating Singapore, why not give a shoutout to our local talents too! Enjoy a free screening of the local movie Wonderland — a local production starring Mark Lee, Peter Yu and Xenia Tan. 

The movie is entirely in Hokkien (don’t worry, there’s subtitles) and depicts traditional fatherly love, as well as the importance of companionship during one’s silver years. You’ll also see popular landmarks from olden day Singapore like the Wonderland Amusement Park in Kallang — a site that no longer exists today. 

This is probably the best movie to watch with your loved ones especially on National Day where we celebrate harmony and togetherness! 

Of course, what’s a celebration without some music?

In the spirit of National Day, local performers like yIN Harmony, Ageless Bridge, Dionne Lim Voice Studio, and more will be taking the stage to sing some National Day classics! Make sure to join them at the Play Ground and sing along with them as One United People! 

If you think that’s all that will be happening, think again. 

Over at the Singapore Navy Museum, you can look forward to letting your creative juices run wild with the DIY button making as well as temporary tattoos and more! There’s also a series of activities taking place over at the Airforce Museum too — now’s your chance to explore these museums and get your hands on some exclusive merch while you’re at it!

While I don’t have any tickets to catch the parade this year, I do think that spending my time at Singapore Discovery Centre is a pretty good alternative. Especially considering that these activities are all free and you still get to show your love for the country.

Plus, you don’t have to wrestle with the insane crowds at the padang — I think it’s a double win for me! 

The special line-up of activities for One United People will be taking place until 11 August 2024, so make sure you head down ASAP!

But, if heaven were to be a place on earth, I would imagine that this hidden cafe along Mount Sophia might just be what heaven would look (and feel) like on Earth. 

Cafe Manna is the newest addition to the quiet Mount Sophia, near Dhoby Ghaut, which has been making waves online for its very pretty stained glass panels and all-white aesthetic. Interestingly, the cafe is also hidden within The Secret Haven. 

Living up to the “secret” in its name, The Secret Haven is rather hidden, and you’ll have to endure a nine-minute long walk and climb a super long staircase — that actually might feel like the staircase to heaven. 

But once you arrive at the entrance of the cafe, you’ll be greeted by the vibrant stained glass nestled among white walls and green plants — which, after that long walk, will feel very much like you have arrived at the gates of heaven (or haven). 

Inside, you’ll find that the interior is kept to a minimal and dressed in neutral tones. You really can’t help but feel so peaceful inside — kinda like how you would feel in heaven I guess. 

Ok enough about the aesthetics, let’s talk about the food. Cafe manna has a rather extensive food menu, comprising all-day brunch platters, hearty mains, sides and more. 

As a self-proclaimed rosti lover, of course I had to order the Rosti with Sausage & Egg (S$18.90) which comes with a thick and juicy sausage alongside two perfectly cooked sunny side up eggs and a generous dollop of sour cream. 

I was really impressed by how thick and crispy the rosti was. The sausage added a burst of flavour and smokiness to the mix, while the sour cream helped to cut through the greasiness. It was simple yet indulgent and definitely ticked all the right boxes for a good rosti. 

We also had the Baked Shakshuka with Chorizo & Sourdough (S$19.90). It comprises bell peppers, tomatoes and chunks of chorizo, paired with crispy sourdough slices. 

I wished that the shakshuka had a bit more of the tomato tang to it. The bell peppers really overshadowed the other components, so if you’re not a big fan of bell peppers you might wanna skip on this one. 

For mains, we had the Braised Beef Cheek with Mash (S$27.90). It featured two generous servings of tender beef cheek on top of super creamy and buttery mash. 

Given how beefy and slightly gamey the flavours were, pairing  the beef with a generous serving of creamy mash was definitely ideal.

If you still have the stomach for more food, why not get some sides like the Loaded Tater Tots (S$15.90), Charred Broccolini (S$15.90), or the classic Truffle Fries (S$14.90). 

Drinks-wise, Cafe Manna has partnered with am coffee co to serve you some delicious and unique brews, along with your usual cafe coffees. 

If you love bandung and coffee, then you definitely must get the Bandung Rose Latte (S$7.50) which features a special milk blend and rose syrup, topped with bandung foam and rose petals.

The components individually were great, but when drunk together, the coffee did overpower the flavours of the rose syrup and bandung. That said, I loved the sweet rose notes. 

I personally preferred the Tiramisu Latte (S$8.50) which is an iced latte topped with mascarpone crème and dusted with the right amount of Valrhona cocoa powder and a ladyfinger biscuit sitting on top. The coffee does contain a splash of alcohol — as does the classic tiramisu dessert. 

All I can say is, my time spent at Cafe Manna was definitely not like any other cafe visit. Surprisingly, I felt so calm and zen inside. I am definitely making plans to return to Cafe Manna — yes, I am willing to endure the long nine-minute walk there. And this time, I’ll try to get my hands on their Burnt Cheesecube (S$7).

The post Cafe Manna is a pretty cafe hidden in a “chapel” serving all-day brunch platters alongside unique lattes in flavours like bandung rose latte & tiramisu appeared first on Confirm Good.

 One place that does it really well is Fei Zhu Lok Lok and they’ve recently opened their newest outlet with an in-house arcade, lala hotpot and so much more! 

You might be familiar with them from their previous two outlets in Toh Guan and Ang Mo Kio. Fei Zhu Lok Lok’s newest (and biggest) outlet is located in Kallang Wave Mall — it’s also their first outlet located inside a mall too. 

The space is decked with bright LED lights and neon signs, so you definitely won’t be able to miss it. 

What really took me by surprise was the massive arcade area, complete with games, claw machines and more! There’s even a dedicated machine for you to get your game tokens — super impressive. 

Food-wise, Fei Zhu Lok Lok offers pretty much the same options as their other outlet. Over on the lok lok front of things, they offer a wide variety of ingredients to choose from like the quintessential bacon and enoki rolls, broccoli, luncheon meat and smoked duck amongst others.  

They also have rather interesting ingredients like bak kwa and pandan mantou. Prices-wise, they’ve also kept the S$1 per stick price tag for most of the ingredients. Other slightly more premium ingredients cost between S$2 and S$3. 

In true lok lok fashion, the skewers are deep fried to a crisp before being generously coated in a house-made seasoning. 

While waiting for your food to be ready, you can head over to the sauce station to get your fill of sauces like Thai Red Chilli, Cheese, Spicy Mayo and more. Fei Zhu Lok Lok also has a DIY sauce station a la hotpot style where you can build your own dipping sauce. 

My favourite was the bacon and enoki skewers (a classic that can do no wrong) which had an oh so satisfying crisp and super addictive. I loved how the seasoning elevated the smoky flavours of the bacon.

If you love a good spice, pair it with the Thai green chilli for an extra spicy and garlicky kick. 

The only time I actually eat broccoli is when it is cooked lok lok style, otherwise I tend to stay very far away from those little green trees. Interestingly, the broccoli here was cooked to a crisp. 

I loved that the seasoning (and the dipping sauce) helped to mask the grassy broccoli taste. It was so addictive, I was tempted to get more — and that’s coming from someone who dislikes  broccoli. 

Other ingredients worth trying include the bak kwa skewer, smoked duck, and potato slices. 

Apart from lok lok, Fei Zhu Lok Lok also offers the viral lala hotpot (S$25.90). The pot comes chock full of clams and you can add on other ingredients too like beef slices, prawns, pork dumplings, scallops and fresh veggies. 

You can further customise your pot by adding in your own sauces to pour into it. Head over to the DIY sauce section, where you’ll find condiments like sesame oil, chilli, garlic and even more Shaoxing wine. 

The soup was really comforting — although the flavours and how robust the soup is would largely depend on the ingredients you throw into the pot. It is also important to note that Fei Zhu only uses fresh clams for their hotpot and it is only available on Tuesdays to Sundays. 

To make your meal even more filling, they also have rice bowls (S$6.90) with toppings like seafood, smoked duck, beef and more. Each bowl also comes with a runny onsen egg — consider me sold! 

As an avid lok lok fan, I have to say that Fei Zhu lok lok really impressed me. Although, it is worth mentioning that lok lok is one of those foods that won’t blow your mind, but it does hit all the right spots, especially if you’re looking for a hearty supper spot. 

Bonus points for being conveniently located within a shopping mall and just walking distance from Stadium MRT! I’ll definitely be back, and I’ll be bringing more friends with me.
