As the world has opened up in 2022 and we’ve started going back to our normal lives before 2020 – most of our favourite events have returned, and this year’s STAR ISLAND countdown at Marina Bay is no exception. Promising to be bigger and better, this marks the first New Years’ celebration to have fireworks in two years, and along with that, an exciting carnival too!
STAR ISLAND has been known for making fireworks pop at previous years’ celebrations, and you can look forward to a countdown like no other. Marina Bay Sands will have the best view of the fireworks, and booking a room at the hotel is one way to ensure you’ll have a front-row seat to watch the fireworks. And for the first time ever, there will be a prequel event at the Marina Bay Sands event plaza, with DJ Hello Kitty who will get fans to move to the beat, a line-up packed with activities & more!
In the leadup to the countdown itself, Prequel to STAR ISLAND will run from 25 to 30 December. Shop at a Sanrio Character pop-up store with special DJ Hello Kitty x STAR ISLAND collab merch, as well as a Jim Beam Highball bar. JCB members, you’ll also get a free drink for flashing your membership pass!
On 31 December, the fun begins at 5pm, and won’t stop until midnight, as you’ll be treated to an 80-minute dazzling light and sound show, complete with dazzling fireworks over the Float@Marina Bay to ring in the new year.
What’s more, Marina Bay will be holding the Great Bay Fiesta, a carnival funground packed with carousels, carnival games, food stalls, and more fun. If you’ve missed the circus, witness The Great Cirque des Cascades, a breathtaking circus stunt show with death-defying stunts here too.
Try your hand at carnival games and classic rides at The Great World Carnival, which replicates the feel of the old amusement park in the 60s’. Grab some grub and take your pick from over 30 food stalls at The Great Food Fiesta, with unique and delicious offerings to savour.
As part of the celebrations, there will also be IG-worthy light installations, outdoor performances at the Esplanade, as well as a light projection show on the facade of the Fullerton that will transform the hotel into a visually striking canvas.
