Before I spill all the deets, you might want to know what the EZ-Link Wallet is all about, and what it can do for you. The EZ-Link App has three payment methods — scanning SGQR codes, Alipay+ (for overseas spending), and also acts as a digital Mastercard that uses funds directly from the EZ-Link wallet and is accepted by over 80 million Mastercard merchants worldwide. Once activated, consumers will be able to use their EZ-Link Wallet for contactless payments both in-store and online.

Plus, users of Google devices can even use the Mastercard via Google Pay to Tap and Pay with the phone for public transport and retail usage. This feature isn’t available for Apple Pay just yet, but we’re crossing our fingers for it to be rolled out soon!

You’ll be able to pay for your online purchases using the card with the virtual Mastercard generated on the app. It works just like any other card, except that you can actually copy and paste your card details without needing to manually fill in the blanks. Yes, online shopping just got even more convenient. 

If you need yet another excuse to spend, you’ll be delighted to know that the 8th day of every month from April to December 2023 is “EZ-Link Shopping Day” — that means you get S$5 cashback in EZ-Link wallet credits with a minimum spend of just S$18 (limited to the first 400 customers). 

Now, here’s the kicker — EZ-Link Wallet users are also eligible for the ‘Spend and Soar’ campaign. If you make a transaction of S$50 and up using your EZ-Link Wallet with Mastercard, you can even stand a chance to win a pair of Singapore Airlines Economy Class return tickets to Seoul or Tokyo! How incredible is that? Plus, the more transactions (S$50 and above) you make, the more chances of winning you get! 

Let’s put this into perspective. Any purchase I make from online retailers — whether it’s clothes or food — easily crosses the S$50 mark (especially if I’m combining purchases with friends and family). All I’d have to do is use my virtual Mastercard to pay, and I’d get another chance at winning myself the trip of my dreams. 

There’ll be one draw on 12 July 2023 (for the participants in June), and three lucky winners stand to win a pair of return economy class air tickets to Seoul. The second draw on 14 August 2023 (for July participants) will see another three winners walking away with a pair of return economy class air tickets to Tokyo. 

Overall, I’d have to admit that I’m pretty sold. It’s convenient, and I might even land free Singapore Airlines tickets to my favourite destinations — what’s not to love?
