There’s a saying that goes, “give a man $20 in a grocery store and you’ll feed him for a day, give him S$20 in Daiso, and he’s set for life”. Okay so that’s not actually a saying, but very well could be. With everything priced at S$2, it’s hard not to go ham in the Japanese lifestyle store, especially when there are 15 things you don’t need simultaneously calling your name. If there’s anywhere to go on a haul though, you can be sure that doing it at Daiso promises minimal damage.

3. Shop for ingredients @ RedMan By Phoon Huat

I doubt RedMan or Phoon Huat are names that need introduction at this point — especially after the ordeal that was an island-wide shortage of vanilla essence last year during circuit breaker when everyone pointedly decided to become home bakers. Aside from baking ingredients, there are also plenty of other great finds that they’re less known for, like their White Truffle Oil, for example, I personally find is one of the best in the markets.

4. Gear up for your workouts @ Decathlon

Perhaps one of the biggest drawing factors to the mall, you may have already heard that Decathlon will be opening a 4,200 sqm, two-storey experience store. The megastore promises a selection of 5,000 products from over 60 different sports. And exclusively for its opening at Northshore Plaza, receive a S$10 gift card when you scan and pay in-store using the Decathlon app.

5. Snag a sweet treat @ Creamier Handcrafted Ice Cream And Coffee

Some might argue that Creamier Handcrafted Ice Cream And Coffee has some of the best gelato and waffles, and even as a non-believer of dessert, I might actually have to agree. Creamier started out from its single location in Toa Payoh and has since expanded to two more, making Northshore Plaza their fourth outlet. Catch some of their classic scoops like Blue Pea Vanilla, Earl Grey Lavender, and Roasted Pistachio on a scorching, summery afternoon.

6. Support local @ Sixth Floor Oyster Cake

Did I deliberately place Sixth Floor Oyster Cake on the sixth entry of this list? Yes, yes I did. And I’ve absolutely no regrets. What started as a humble home-based business in Punggol is now expanding into their first physical store in Northshore Plaza and don’t we love to see it. They serve up generously-stuffed oyster pancakes in original and kimchi flavours that look mouth-wateringly decadent.

7. Catch a zen day @ Masego – The Safari Spa

With all the WFH stress and poor posture catching up to us, it’s safe to assume we’re all overdue for some pampering to set our bodies straight. Masego – The Safari Spa has options aplenty for both facials and massages when you want a quick lunchtime pop-in around the neighbourhood. Lose yourself in the Jungle Fever Quick Massage, Empress Jade Facial, or The Earth Below Foot Spa which promise respite from the stressors of the day.

8. Shop sustainably @ The Source Bulk Foods

I often consider The Source Bulk Foods my person haven with kombucha on tap and pay-as-you-weigh ingredients and snacks. The most remarkable part is the no-waste, no-packaging policy that advocates only buying what you need, and only in reused containers with minimal wastage. It’s advised to bust out your mason jars and Tupperwares, and be prepared to radicalise grocery shopping as we know it.

9. Have a flippin’ good meal at Slappy Cakes

When Slappy Cakes‘ lease ended earlier this year in May, they closed their Plaza Singapura outlet for good, making it a sad, sad day for the pancake scene in Singapore. Now that they’re popping back up in Northshore Plaza, diners can once again look forward to flipping their own pancakes, shaping and decorating them however they please.
