Although they tend to hold small-scale pop-ups around Singapore, they’ve just launched a massive thrift concept, Second Story: Peace Edition, that will be around for around six months (till February 2024).

This is the collective’s largest space yet, spanning over 5,000 sqft, comprising three entire units filled with books, pre-loved clothing, and so much more. It is located on the second floor of Peace Centre (no, not Haji Lane), and can be accessed via the staircase next to Aladdin’s Castle Cafe.

The charming Second Story: Peace Edition is home to a very extensive selection of clothes, books (fun fact: they’ve got a whopping 50,000 books in storage), and hard-to-find collectibles.

First things first, you’ll notice racks on racks of pre-loved clothing priced from just S$8. After all, thrifting shouldn’t be too expensive a hobby.

The womenswear is sourced locally, via trade-ins and donations, and from Japan. Whether you’re in need of a snazzy blazer, pair of pants, sports jacket or even a flowy kimono-style robe, there are plenty of trendy and high-quality pieces to choose from.

There’s even a room dedicated to specially curated menswear, ranging from work blazers to sweatpants, for your thrifting pleasure.

Moving on to the “Book Room“, you can expect secondhand titles selected by the in-house curator in a diverse selection of genres including literature, art and design, politics and philosophy, and so much more.

If you’re the sort that gains satisfaction from copping vintage finds, hit up the “Rare and Vintage” section for rare (but pricier) books that can go up to S$50.

But it’s not all about books and clothes. Audiophiles can check out the range of vinyls by Wildflower Wax Co, a curated vinyl record store selling brand new and sealed, top-shelf titles for S$30 and up.

After all that browsing, why not try your hand at blackout poetry or share your thoughts about thrifting at the activity corners?

Those visting with little ones can instil in them a love of reading at the small yet cosy children’s corner that is equipped with beautifully illustrated picture books and paperbacks. Stay tuned, as it may soon expand into an larger “zone” complete with storytelling sessions and other kid-friendly activities.

You’ll notice several reading and lounging nooks around the space — visitors are more to welcome to sit down and relax, work (there are power plugs, but not Wi-Fi), or simply chill and hang out with friends.
