Step into a space decorated like an atelier workshop as reams of fabric hang from the ceiling, design sketches are pinned on walls and ceramic plates are laid out with an array of brushes and paints. 

Meet the artisans behind the brand’s iconic handbags and learn how they craft the gorgeous bags, from the saddle stitching that goes into the Kelly handbag to the intricate silk prints of their scarves. 

As much as Hermès is renowned for its scarves and bags, they also produce horse saddles, watches, hats, and tableware, which the exhibition will showcase.

Visitors can see the craftspeople in action as they demonstrate how the famous products are being made, and you’ll even get the chance to try it out with the exhibition’s craft workshops. The exhibition revolves around the brand’s creative process, with films, workshops, and events centred around the brand’s craftsmanship. 

As the Singapore line-up hasn’t been announced just yet, based on the original Copenhagen exhibition, you can expect interactive installations, sensory experiences, and immersive and stunning pieces – along with film screenings from the luxury brand’s Footsteps across the World collection by documentary filmmaker Frédéric Laffont (known for his unique documentary work).

Fun, educational and great for photos, head on over to the free retro-themed exhibition at the National Museum of Singapore for a retrospective blast to the past. 

The “OFF / ON: Everyday Technology that Changed our Lives, 1970s – 2000s” exhibition available from now to 30 October 2022 features different spaces outfitted with old-school decor and technology from the days before.

“We are more “switched on” today than ever, and connected to a vast network of technology and gadgets than we could have possibly imagined back then. Step into this immersive showcase and explore how everyday technological tools changed and shaped the lives of Singaporeans from the 1970s to 2000s.“

From a retro kopitiam and classic salon to an ‘old-fashioned’ home styled from our parents/grandparents’ time and more, explore the sets and check out the interesting details bringing us back in time.

Think typewriters, personal computers, and technicolour television sets!

The IG-worthy spaces also make a great backdrop for photos if you’re coming with friends, a date or bringing the kids – so if you enjoy dressing up, come dressed in your vintage best and take allll the photos you want. 

Last but not least, if you love a good escape room experience, this is where you’ll be able to book tickets (from S$12) to An Escape Through Time and have fun with an exclusive retro-themed in-gallery escape room at the National Museum of Singapore.

PS: Do note that the gallery will be closed earlier on Fridays, Saturdays and other selected days in preparation for the Escape Room Game with the last admission at 5.30pm.

The post This free retro-themed exhibition at the National Museum of Singapore is a nostalgic blast to the past appeared first on Confirm Good.

This vividly coloured exhibition is part of Art Encounters efforts to transform the Bugis Town (comprising Bugis Junction, Bugis+ and Bugis Street) using a floral multi-sensorial installation created by budding artist Chloë Manasseh. Entry is free.

Located just right outside Bugis+, all of her vibrant imagination and moving strokes are crammed into one gorgeous container that is just pure eye candy. It will run from 21 Aug 2021 to 3 Oct 2021, open daily from 11am to 8pm.

With Bugis+ being such a hotspot for shoppers, Petals Fall, Now and Then provides a escape to an oasis within the dense urban concrete jungle. We say it doubles as a great OOTD spot as well.

Shopeprs can step inside the immersive space to enjoy a technicolour display of striking botanical paintings and lush flowers lined around one corner of the container. If you want, you can even unleash your inner artist and leave your mark on a participatory community canvas.

In fact, the lush environment of floor-to-ceiling visuals of Petals Fall, Now and Then were hand painted by Chloë Manasseh herself, live over a period of 14 days. How cool is that?

But the gorgeous decals aren’t the only thing that you can immerse yourself in. The installation also features a special ambient scent by home-grown fragrance label Scent by SIX, tailor made to fit the flowery ambiance in the exhibit.

Plus you might notice the splashes of blue throughout the wall, which are actually pools of water in the reimagined seascape. Petals Fall, Now and Then brings lifelike details to the next level by dousing it with reisin to make it look soaked.

In the adjacent container, you can find a more traditional gallery featuring botanical paintings on canvas by the same artist. It’s also here where you can find the participatory community canvas, which has turned into a Strawberry bush. Of sorts.

Outside the exhibit itself, you can find also Chloë’s works peppered around Bugis Town which you can snap to enter the Bugis Town Art Encounters Instagram Contest by following and tagging @BugisJunctionxBugisPlus, and hashtag #BugisJunctionxBugisPlus #BugisTown.
