Cruffins

Mr Holmes Bakehouse’s first ever savoury cruffin comes by way of the Sundried Tomato & Bacon Jam (S$7.50) which is piped with a bacon jam that’s almost reminiscent of the classic bak kwa. You’ll also find a chive cream cheese centre as well as bits of gruyere incorporated into the dough to create crispy cheese skirts for maximum crunching pleasure.

There’s no reason to panic for the sweet-toothed, though, because there’s still a trio of sweet cruffins to swoon over, including the German Chocolate (S$6.50) with a touch of coffee, shredded coconut, and pecan pieces. The other two are the Irish Cream (S$6.50) that’s piped to the brim with a decadent centre paired with orange zest and cacao nibs, as well as the PBJ by PBD (S$9.50) made in collaboration with Park Bench Deli to put together a tart strawberry rhubarb and nutty almond butter twist, topped with whole candied almonds.

These three cruffins will stick around until end March 2022.

Donuts

Of course, it wouldn’t be a bakehouse without donuts, and the Everything Donut (S$5.80) is literally everything you could want in a savoury option. The brioche treat is piped with chive and caper cream cheese, glazed with spicy Sriracha honey and a coat of house-made Everything seasoning, and gives way to a burst of umami. There are few ways to describe it apart from a whole party in your mouth, and it’s an offering that’s sure to whet any appetite.

In what resembles the increasingly-popular bombolini, Mr Holmes’ brioche donuts are also available filled with Speculoos (S$5.80), Milk Chocolate Earl Grey (S$5.80), and the unique Mango Chilli Lime (S$5.80).

Croissants, sandwiches & other bakes

Aside from the American bakehouse classics, there are also other forms of pastries to snag here like the flaky Bacon Mac & Cheese Danish (S$7), Bourbon Caramel Pecan Sticky Bun (S$5.80), and diet-friendly Gluten-Free Lemon Blueberry Muffin (S$5).

If you’ve not heard of them, they are one of the first bakehouses that made cruffins explode onto everyone’s IG feeds. These IG darlings are basically eye-catching croissants moulded into muffin shapes while being loaded with indulgent amounts of cream.

Mr Holmes Bakehouse’s Singapore outlet can be found on level 1 of Pacific Plaza, decked out in vibrant shades of pink and white.

All eyes will definitely be on their iconic Peace and “I Got Baked” neon signs, which serve as perfect backdrops for those IG-worthy shots.

It’s like a candy wonderland inside, with tasteful white tiles lined across the walls while the bright pink ceiling sets the mood for a quirky dine-in experience.

That said, as striking as the decor is, the pastries in the display case are even more eye-catching. Vividly colourful and intricately crafted, they are sure to draw some drool out of anyone’s mouths.

Since most in Singapore have probably never tried Mr Holmes Bakehouse, it’s a no-brainer to go straight for their signature Cruffins (S$5.80).

The flaky “muffins” are available in 3 flavours — Mint Chocolate Chip Cream, Tiramisu Cream, and Peanut Butter Milkshake (only available on weekends).

Of course, if their cruffins are sold out then you can go for the next best thing, their Croissants. They are essentially the same thing but differently shaped, after all.

Croissant varieties include classics like Butter (S$4), Matcha (S$5), and Chocolate (S$5), but there are also more unique flavours like Lemon Meringue Pie (S$7.50) and Raspberry Hibiscus (S$7.50).

Besides crafting those flaky viennoiseries, Mr Holmes Bakehouse also makes their own donuts, the trending item in Singapore at the moment.

You can’t go wrong with timeless flavours like Chocolate Cream (S$5.80) and Strawberries & Cream (S$5.80) but the more adventurous might want to get their hands on their weekend special Plum Yuzu Jam Donut (S$6.50) instead.

Right now, the bakehouse is selling out fast, especially for cruffins. If you plan to stay away from the queues at the moment, you should know that they refresh their bakes every three months — so don’t miss out on any items that may catch your eye.
