It’s durian season and needless to say, most Singaporeans would want a piece of the fleshy and creamy yellow fruit. Just yesterday, Sheng Shiong Supermarket shared on Facebook that they’ll be running durian promotions and boy, do they have a lot to offer.

Durians from $2 at Sheng Siong Bedok

Located at Bedok 209, durians from as low as S$2 can be spotted at the supermarket. A variety of durians such as the highly-raved Mao Shan Wang (MSW) and Red Prawn durians are going for S$15/kg and S$5 respectively.

Known for its tender, fleshy and rich flavour, the MSW is a hot favourite among Singaporeans. But if you prefer a dense and creamy texture with a sweet taste, the Red Prawn would be your go-to. Larger red prawn durians are also available for S$20 per durian.

D13 durian, another household favourite, is also sold at just S$10 for three durians.

For those that do not nitpick on flavours, the Kampung durian will satisfy the durian cravings.

Overwhelming response from crowd, durians while stocks last

Since the durians were sold at a bargain, it was sure to attract a big crowd. Yesterday, just before 2PM, Sheng Siong halted its sales as too many people were gathering at the storefront. However, they resumed sales at 4PM.

The durian promotion will continue today, but we anticipate that long queues will be formed. Other fruits such as red cherries, lychees and blueberries are also on sale, so be sure to make full use of your trip down.

The fruits are while stocks last, so drop by Sheng Siong Bedok ASAP — but do abide by safe distancing measures.
