Yes, you didn’t read that wrong. The popular cup noodle manufacturer has come up with a new line of soda with four flavours inspired by their classic soups — Cup Noodle Soda, Cup Noodle Seafood Soda, Cup Noodle Curry Soda, and Cup Noodle Chili Tomato Soda.

What do these Nissin Cup Noodles Soda taste like, you’re probably thinking? Well, the Cup Noodle Soda is a ginger ale drink infused with the umami of shoyu and pepper while the Cup Noodle Seafood Soda is a cream soda that’s given a kiss of seafood flavour.

But the more outlandish ones are probably the Cup Noodle Curry Soda which is essentially cola with added curry spices and the Cup Noodle Chili Tomato Soda which is a slightly spicy and zesty tomato cola that might confuse some tastebuds.

Call us conservative but who woke up one day and decided that “yes I need some curry soup in my soda”? Or did someone accidentally spill some Nissin soup into their soda and made a startling discovery that it was a perfect combo? We have so many questions.

But if you’re game to try, Nissin is offering a Cup Noodle 50th Anniversary Complete Set that’s a care package containing all 4 soda flavours, 8 Cup Noodle Umaibo snacks, and 8 standard Cup Noodle flavours for ¥2,998 JPY, which converts to around S$37.

Regular orders may also be made through online retail sites such as Amazon and Rakuten but the soda products seem to be only available to Japan as of now.

So if you’re in Japan or know someone in Japan you can snag an order from those retailers or from Nissin’s official website from 13 September 2021 to 17 September 2021.

Or if the sodas themselves don’t sound good enough for you, you can spice it up by making some cocktails with their Cup Noodles Soda, which were created by the head bartender of the prestigious main bar at Keio Plaza Hotel Tokyo.

Has technology gone too far? We won’t know until we get to try Nissin’s Cup Noodle Soda for ourselves but for now, we’d let our friends over at Japan be the guinea pigs first.
