And if you’re reminiscing those days, visit Yu Ba Fang — a popular food chain that serves a variety of pan-fried and steamed dumplings that has opened its first outlet in Singapore. 

Yu Ba Fang’s pan-fried dumplings and other Taiwanese delicacies

The Yu Ba Fang brand has a number of outlets in Taiwan, but it actually hails from China. There are a total of 18 items on their menu, but their signature would be the Pan-Fried Dumplings (S$10.90), which are known for their unusual spear shape.

While most dumplings are kept frozen, Yu Ba Fang’s dumplings are made to order and freshly wrapped in store. Loaded with fillings and wrapped with a thin layer of dough, these guo ties are threatening to burst with flavour.

Assorted fillings such as Hualien Ji’an Fragrant Chives, Golden Sweet Corn Chicken, and JeJu Island Korean Spicy Flavour are available, so there’s a wide selection of choices.

For those who prefer their dumplings boiled, that option is available too. Or, simply opt for the Double Mix, which will give you the best of both worlds with any two flavours. 

Besides the dumplings, Yu Ba Fang serves other Taiwanese fares too. The YBF Special Minced Pork Rice (S$7.90) is a heavenly combination of tenderly braised pork with fragrant tea egg — a favourite amongst Singaporeans.

If you’re craving some spice, opt for the Hot & Sour Soup. At S$2.50, this is an affordable bowl of comfort. 

Other small bites such as Alisan Tea Eggs (S$1.50) are also offered, along with Gourmet Grounded Soymilk (S$2.50) to wash it all down.

You can even make your dumplings a meal combo by topping up S$1, which gets you an egg and a drink or soup. 

Since the store has just opened, some of the menu items are still not available. However, we’re looking forward to the release of their Hokkaido Fresh Prawn Dumplings and YBF Special Minced Pork Noodles!
