On 3 July 2025, Scoot officially announced the launch of new flight services to Da Nang and Nha Trang in Vietnam, and Kota Bharu in Malaysia. Flights will be taking off progressively between October and November 2025.

Da Nang is a must-visit spot in Vietnam, with its beautiful beaches and natural attractions like the Marble Mountains. It’s also located near the UNESCO World Heritage site, My Son Sanctuary, and the ancient towns of Hoi An and Hue. 

Expect three weekly flights to Da Nang on the Airbus A320 Family Aircraft, starting from 20 October 2025. This will progressively increase to daily flights by December 2025.

Further south in Vietnam, Nha Trang is the spot to be for beach parties and fresh seafood. Don’t forget to pack your sunscreen and party attire, because they’re known for their nightlife that just won’t quit.

Expect two weekly flights to Nha Trang on the Embraer E190-E2 Aircraft, starting from 21 November 2025. This will progressively increase to five weekly flights by January 2026.

Kota Bharu is Malaysia’s hidden gem, boasting gorgeous riverside mosques, royal palaces, and vibrant markets. Here, immerse yourself in traditional Malay culture, from Rebana Ubi (traditional drums) shows to Wayang Kulit (shadow puppetry) performances. 

Expect two weekly flights to Kota Bharu on the E190-E2 Aircraft, starting from 26 October 2025. 

One-way economy class fares, inclusive of taxes, start from:

• Da Nang (S$115)
• Nha Trang (S$135)
• Kota Bharu (S$78)

Booking for these flights is already available on Scoot’s website.

But that’s not all — to meet the higher demand for air travel, Scoot is also increasing flight frequencies to Jakarta, Clark, Davao, Manila, Hat Yai, Perth, and Sydney.

To celebrate the launch of these new destinations, Scoot has limited-time promotional fares from 8 July 2025 to 13 July 2025. From just S$69, their mid-year sale offers one-way flights to over 60 cities, including Fuzhou, Sydney, and Chiang Mai.

What’s next? Look forward to flights to Medan and Labuan Bajo in Indonesia, and Okinawa in Japan, all launching during the Northern Winter 2025 Season.

If cafe-hopping in Singapore puts a strain on your wallet, good news! The City of Bridges boasts a vibrant coffee scene, allowing you to enjoy Vietnamese coffee for just a fraction of the usual Singaporean price.

Besides cafe-hopping, local dishes such as bánh xèo and mì quảng noodles are must-tries.

Enough said, let’s dive into the 8 Da Nang food spots you should add to your itinerary. 

1. Bánh Mì & Coffee NHÀ VIỆT

The beloved bánh mì needs no introduction. Dubbed the Vietnamese baguette, this hearty sandwich is a consistent hit in Singapore. Here at Bánh Mì & Coffee NHÀ VIỆT, munch on crisp yet soft and fluffy buns (they were so airy, I was seriously on cloud nine). Choose from fillings including egg and shredded chicken, then kick back and soak in the cosy atmosphere.

Try the Speciality Bread for 45,000 dong (S$2.25), packed with egg, grilled pork, and char siu. 

If you’re not feeling up for a sandwich, try bò kho, a fragrant braised beef stew served with the same bread for 65,000 dong (S$3.25).

While you’re here, you have to get a drink from their extensive menu (I don’t make the rules). 

While they offer tea, yoghurt smoothies, and juice, I recommend trying their bestseller drinks. For 49,000 dong (S$2.45), choose from the Egg Coffee, Coconut Coffee, or Salted Coffee. I tried all three and trust me, you won’t regret it.

2. Phở House

Spoiler alert: This eatery was hands-down my favourite spot in Da Nang (bonus points for the friendly owner who gave us free dessert).

The menu at Phở House is simple — different types of phở and spring rolls — but that’s how you know the food is good. 

My Beef Phở with eye round steak, fatty flank, and meatballs was the definition of comfort in a bowl. Choose between the Medium at 60,000 dong (S$3) or the Large at 70,000 dong (S$3.50).  Each phở comes with an assortment of fresh vegetables, lime, and chilli so you can adjust the broth’s flavour to your preference.

You can’t leave without trying the spring rolls, priced at 15,000 dong (S$0.75) per roll. These were so crunchy and addictive, we had to order multiple plates.

Sweet treat lovers, try the Homemade Crème Caramel Pudding or Homemade Yoghurt for 15,000 dong (S$0.75) each. 

Of course, there’s also the ever-popular Milk Coffee for 20,000 dong (S$1).

3. Cafe Cửa Ngõ

Nobody does egg coffee better than Cafe Cửa Ngõ, which also features a cool Moroccan-inspired photo spot for all the Instagram baddies. There’s outdoor seating available, but the interior has its own charm reminiscent of an 80s Vietnamese home with vintage furniture.

I didn’t know egg coffee was a thing, but don’t let the name put you off. It’s a strong cup of coffee topped with a generous amount of creamy, smooth, and thick egg custard.

Too many eggs in your basket?

No worries, because there are other drinks on the menu. Besides the usual Salted Cream Coffee for 39,000 dong (S$1.95) and Coconut Coffee for 42,000 dong (S$2.10), there are unique tea options.

One of their signature drinks is the Yellow Grapefruit Dragonfruit Tea for 39,000 dong (S$1.95). I’ve never had artichoke before, so the Grandma’s House Artichoke Tea for 39,000 dong (S$1.95) caught my eye.

If you’re a bubble tea addict, elevate your experience with the Bubble Milk Tea with Baked Egg Cream for 39,000 dong (S$1.95). This is your basic cheese foam milk tea, but so much better.

4. Bếp Cuốn Đà Nẵng

Let Bếp Cuốn Đà Nẵng be your introduction to local cuisine. Here, they serve a wide variety of staples, so you can try everything you want, zi char-style. This spot is a great place for those with dietary restrictions, as most of the dishes can be customised with various vegetarian or meat options.

Bánh xèo, which translates to “sizzling pancake”, is a must-try in Da Nang. It’s a crispy, thin pancake usually eaten wrapped in rice paper, meat, and lots of vegetables. The best part? You get to assemble everything yourself, based on which ingredients you like.

I tried the Bánh Xèo Bò for 99,000 dong (S$4.96), which is the beef variation.

The deep-fried spring rolls were also a delight. Ever tried fish spring rolls? Here, you can order them for 99,000 dong (S$4.96).

While you can definitely fill up your stomach with the assortment of dishes, there are also fried rice dishes, congee, and pho. Honestly, the sky’s the limit, so go crazy and eat to your heart’s delight.

5. WONDERLUST – Coffee & Souvenir

Founded in 2013, this three-level building houses a cafe, a handmade souvenir shop, and a local coffee retailer. Wonderlust reminded me of a greenhouse-turned-cafe, with its abundance of greenery and bright, natural sunlight. 

While I played it safe with the popular Salted Coffee for 75,000 dong (S$3.75), they also have a wide variety of interesting drinks.

Try the Coconut Mango for 75,000 dong (S$3.75), one of their signature drinks featuring coconut blended with mango juice and topped with mango ice cream.

Always been curious about daylight drinking? Sure, try it with the Sugarcane Beer for 85,000 dong (S$4.25).

Other standouts include Neon Matcha for 85,000 dong (S$4.25), a pandan-coconut matcha fusion, and the Cherry Cold Brew for 75,000 dong (S$3.75).

Of course, they also have many bakes available, from pound cakes to cookies and tiramisu.

After you’ve had your fill of caffeine and chats, visit their souvenir shop on the first and second floors. It houses a selection of handmade products by local brands, and you can expect to buy local coffee beans, jewellery, glasses, stationery and more.

6. Thìa Gỗ Restaurant Da Nang

Located away from the bustling main street, escape into a quiet oasis in this Michelin Guide restaurant. Thìa Gỗ’s menu features cuisine from Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta, such as bánh xèo and southern phở.

The Gỏi cuốn, fresh shrimp spring rolls, are priced at 60,000 dong (S$3) for three rolls, and you can’t miss the Phở Nam made using beef bone broth for 85,000 dong (S$4.25). 

Try the Bún thịt xào chả giò, a unique noodle salad with stir-fried meats and spring rolls. The beef variation goes for just 80,000 dong (S$4).

Or, try the Lẩu mắm cá linh for 250,000 dong (S$12.51), a local hotpot style that uses fermented mudfish paste in the broth. It’s suitable for two or more people — perfect for sharing with that travel buddy who always says, “I’m not hungry” and then steals all your food.

For 50,000 dong (S$2.50), complement your meal with Egg Coffee, Coconut Coffee, or Salt Coffee.

Already having caffeine jitters? Choose the Passion Fruit Juice for 40,000 dong (S$2) instead.

7. Cà Phê Muối Huế

This trendy roadside cafe is run by young locals (and we all know this means it’s where the cool crowd hangs out). Grab a street-facing seat and prepare to chat up a storm with your buddies.

Cà Phê Muối Huế directly translates to “Salt Coffee Hue”, so you have to get their speciality Salt Coffee for 29,000 dong (S$1.45). It’s strong black coffee topped with a thick, creamy salted cream that honestly tasted like tiramisu in drink form.

Dessert… Coffee… Who says you can’t have both?

But if you’re not a fan of coffee, I’ve got you! You can get the same signature salted cream topping on Cocoa or Matcha for 29,000 dong (S$1.45). And if you’re a corny person (we still love you), try the Corn Foam Coffee for 35,000 dong (S$1.75).

They also serve an interesting range of tea, such as Custard Apple Tea and Jasmine Lychee Tea for 35,000 dong (S$1.75) each.

8. NU ĐỒ Kitchen

NU ĐỒ Kitchen is also a Michelin Guide restaurant, with a cheeky transliteration of the word ‘noodle’. Run by Masterchef Vietnam runner-up Carol Pham, tradition and innovation meet in this quaint eatery. The green patio sets the scene for a calming lunch, so this is my pick for those days when you want to take it slow and easy.

Here, the central Vietnamese staple mì quảng is spiced up with Malaysian influences, inspired by Pham’s time in Malaysia. 

Choose from chicken, beef, fish (boneless, of course), or vegetarian options. Each variation has a special broth to highlight the key ingredient, so choose carefully. To pay homage to Vietnamese culture, each bowl is served in a charming traditional bamboo basket, just like in the old days. 

The Vegetarian Noodle is the most affordable at 90,000 dong (S$4.50), while the bestselling Beef Noodle is 100,000 dong (S$5.01).
