<p>When we talk about <a href="https://confirmgood.com/post/best-hokkien-mee-in-singapore/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">hawker food</a> in Singapore, we commonly list out comforting classics such as <a href="https://confirmgood.com/post/fortynine-hai-kee-old-hock-kee-pop-up/">chicken </a><a href="https://confirmgood.com/post/fortynine-hai-kee-old-hock-kee-pop-up/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">rice</a> and<em> laksa</em>. But our hawker scene is constantly evolving with new stalls bringing novel affordable eats to the scene &#8212; one such stall is Eddy&#8217;s at Hong Lim, known for its wallet-friendly duck confit.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" width="800" height="1000" src="https://confirmgood.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/eddys-hong-lim-singapore-1.jpg" alt="eddy's hong lim duck confit" class="wp-image-32986" srcset="https://confirmgood.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/eddys-hong-lim-singapore-1.jpg 800w, https://confirmgood.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/eddys-hong-lim-singapore-1-240x300.jpg 240w, https://confirmgood.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/eddys-hong-lim-singapore-1-768x960.jpg 768w, https://confirmgood.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/eddys-hong-lim-singapore-1-312x390.jpg 312w, https://confirmgood.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/eddys-hong-lim-singapore-1-585x731.jpg 585w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /><figcaption>Photo: @chocolatetbasil/instagram</figcaption></figure>

<p>That&#8217;s right, this unassuming stall at Hong Lim actually serves affordable<a href="https://confirmgood.com/post/hub-spoke-cafe-singapore/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> contemporary Western</a> food &#8212; Eddy&#8217;s is run by a former chef who worked in France in the past. It&#8217;s not your run-of-the-mill Western stall.</p>

<p>So forget your standard chicken chops drenched in thick black pepper sauces and get your knives and forks ready to slice into some crispy duck legs done in the traditional French style you&#8217;d more commonly find in restaurants.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="800" height="1000" src="https://confirmgood.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/eddys-hong-lim-singapore-2.jpg" alt="eddy's duck confit" class="wp-image-32987" srcset="https://confirmgood.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/eddys-hong-lim-singapore-2.jpg 800w, https://confirmgood.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/eddys-hong-lim-singapore-2-240x300.jpg 240w, https://confirmgood.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/eddys-hong-lim-singapore-2-768x960.jpg 768w, https://confirmgood.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/eddys-hong-lim-singapore-2-312x390.jpg 312w, https://confirmgood.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/eddys-hong-lim-singapore-2-585x731.jpg 585w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /><figcaption> Photo: @chocolatetbasil/instagram </figcaption></figure>

<p>Many customers head down to Hong Lim just for the super value-for-money <strong>Duck Confit</strong> on Eddy&#8217;s menu at a mere <strong>S$10</strong>. That&#8217;s way below the market rate compared to your typical casual French restaurants and cafes.</p>

<p>And for S$10, you get an array of sides to go with the duck too &#8212; a generous mound of mashed potatoes and some refreshing coleslaw, with the entire ensemble showered in a glistening peppery brown sauce.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="800" height="893" src="https://confirmgood.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/eddys-hong-lim-singapore-3.jpg" alt="eddy's" class="wp-image-32988" srcset="https://confirmgood.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/eddys-hong-lim-singapore-3.jpg 800w, https://confirmgood.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/eddys-hong-lim-singapore-3-269x300.jpg 269w, https://confirmgood.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/eddys-hong-lim-singapore-3-768x857.jpg 768w, https://confirmgood.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/eddys-hong-lim-singapore-3-349x390.jpg 349w, https://confirmgood.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/eddys-hong-lim-singapore-3-585x653.jpg 585w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /><figcaption>Photo: @thegluttonproject/instagram</figcaption></figure>

<p>That said, the Duck Confit isn&#8217;t the only affordable item on Eddy&#8217;s menu worth popping by Hong Lim for, since their pasta dishes are all priced below S$10 as well.</p>

<p>If you like a bit of Asian flair in your pasta, then the <strong><em>Mala</em> Shrimp Spaghetti (S$7.50)</strong> will surely appeal to you with its infusion of everyone&#8217;s favourite mouth-numbing spices into the piquant sauce. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="800" height="800" src="https://confirmgood.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/eddys-hong-lim-singapore-4.jpg" alt="eddy's hong lim" class="wp-image-32984" srcset="https://confirmgood.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/eddys-hong-lim-singapore-4.jpg 800w, https://confirmgood.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/eddys-hong-lim-singapore-4-300x300.jpg 300w, https://confirmgood.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/eddys-hong-lim-singapore-4-150x150.jpg 150w, https://confirmgood.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/eddys-hong-lim-singapore-4-768x768.jpg 768w, https://confirmgood.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/eddys-hong-lim-singapore-4-70x70.jpg 70w, https://confirmgood.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/eddys-hong-lim-singapore-4-390x390.jpg 390w, https://confirmgood.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/eddys-hong-lim-singapore-4-585x585.jpg 585w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /><figcaption>Photo: @wearethecarbdashians/instagram</figcaption></figure>

<p>Alternatively, Eddy&#8217;s also has a<strong> Laksa Spaghetti</strong> that you can pair with a classic grilled<strong> Chicken Chop for S$8.50</strong> for a milder kiss of heat if <em>mala</em> is too much spice for you.</p>

<p>But you can also enjoy it with <strong>Aglio Olio Spaghetti (S$8.50</strong>), <strong>Mashed P</strong>otatoes (S$8) or <strong>French Fries (S$8</strong>) if you like. Sometimes we just prefer indulging in our chicken chops with fries, y&#8217;know?</p>
