The Hainan Story’s 24/7 high tea set

Located in Hotel Boss, The Hainan Story’s high tea set is available 24/7. This means that there’s no need to get out of bed just to make it in time for afternoon tea — you can even have it for supper instead.

Priced at S$19.90/pax, the set has three tiers of Hainanese goodies. Unlike most high tea places where only sweet bakes are offered, there are many savoury items on the menu here.

Prawn fritters, Hainanese Har Chou, and Hainanese satay fills up the first tier. Served with cucumbers, onions, peanut sauce, and pineapple sauce, you can pick your dip and enjoy these tender meat skewers.

The second tier holds Yi Bua, a traditional Hainanese kuih, and some honey toast cubes. Made of glutinous rice flour, the Yi Bua has a soft and chewy casing that holds a filling of brown sugar, coconut, and crushed peanuts.

The honey toast cubes are pan-fried with butter and served with a honey sauce.

Lastly, finish off your meal with their signature swiss roll cakes and an assortment of cookies. The cakes are moist and come in two flavours — coconut and pandan, and a yam orh nee roll. Layered with a generous filling of cream, each bite is guaranteed to be sinfully creamy.
