1. Rifle Range Nature Park

This new nature park feels like something out of a fairyland – cross a stone path, take a walk on a bridge surrounded by nature, and hang out on a viewing deck 31 metres in the sky. With a rustic, tranquil atmosphere, the Rifle Range Nature Park is the perfect place to unwind.

2. National Orchid Garden 

Stroll through a cool glasshouse as you ‘enter’ a tropical montane forest, where you’ll feel like you’re in the mountains on a foggy day. The National Orchid Garden has recently revamped its offerings, including a bromeliad walk, a secret ravine, and more floral experiences to discover.

3. Khatib Nature Corridor

If you’re a trail buff, this one’s for you. The Khatib Nature Corridor has 80 kilometres of unique nature trails, and 150 hectares of greenery. Plenty of new nature parks are in the works, and we’re especially looking forward to visiting the Miltonia Nature Park (think rivers, streams, and walking on a riverbank)!

4. Hampstead Wetlands Park

One of the ‘secret’ nature trails in Singapore, Hampstead Wetlands Park is tucked away in a hidden nook in Seletar Aerospace Park. You’ll get to explore a serene natural paradise with boardwalks, rustic old colonial houses, lakes, and more undisturbed sights.

5. Singapore Quarry

Missing the sights of Seoul? You can now pay a visit to Singapore’s very own Baegundae Peak at the Singapore Quarry. With panoramic views of the cliffside, surrounded by water, this one is a must-see. If you’re lucky, you can even spot rare birds like the Barred-Eagle Owl and more wildlife that live in the quarry!

With everchanging events and impressive installations at Gardens by the Bay, it’s no surprise that the place has became a hotspot for Singaporeans. But if you’ve always been one to avoid touristy places and would prefer to travel off the beaten path, then this is your chance to go hyper-local and visit the newly renovated National Orchid Garden.

Singapore Botanic Gardens’ new attraction

Situated at Singapore Botanic Gardens, the new attraction is titled Tropical Montane Orchidetum and is located within the National Orchid Garden. 

The newly renovated interior may get you excited enough to wander off and start exploring, but to start, we recommend visiting the most notable addition first — the Sembcorp Cool House. Spanning 1,100sqm wide, this two-storey glasshouse is picturesque and out of a fairytale. 

The high ceiling and lush foliage add to the glasshouse’s allure, but it’ll be difficult to enjoy the scenery if you’re perspiring from the heat. Over here, temperatures are kept at 16 to 24 degrees for the fauna and flora to thrive, so there’s no need to worry about feeling warm and sticky.

Over 1,000 orchid species from five biogeographical regions are on display at the National Orchid Garden, but you don’t have to be a botanist to admire their beauty.

The next display house on the list would be the Yuen Peng McNeice Bromeliad Collection, where visitors can find plants from the mid-elevation neotropical rainforest. Since it emulates an elevation of 650m–1,000m, you can stroll along the winding path while enjoying the crisp air.

You may be tired from all the walking, but persevere on to unveil a trickling stream. Neotropical plants that are typically found in Central or South America can be found in the area, so there’s no need to travel just to see these beauties.

If you head further down the track, you’ll also be able to find other variants of orchids and pineapples.

For those who have been to National Orchid Garden before, you may be acquainted with the Tan Hoon Siang Mist House. Now, the Paleotropical garden has doubled in size and houses plants from tropical Asia, New Guinea, Africa and the Pacific Islands. 

Besides these new attractions, there’s also a Lowland Habitat Trail and a Secret Ravine which boasts of richer biodiversity.
