While a slightly more chilly day on our sunny island is enough to warrant a super shiok hot pot session — nothing can really beat having this warm, bubbling and brothy meal in the real cold. I’m talking subzero temperatures, snow, all that wintery jazz. And guess what — now we can actually enjoy that experience in Singapore.

Thanks to Ice Magic: The Great Fantasy on Ice’s collaboration with the famous hot pot franchise Haidilao, you can now experience having hot pot in the middle of a winter wonderland without leaving our sunny island until 29 January 2023. 

This will be Haidilao’s first ever pop-up event in Singapore, where you’ll be able to enjoy two different sets with some of their signature menu items — the Hi Magic Beef set and Hi Magic Pork set. Other than the choice of meats, the other ingredients are pretty much standardised with cheese tofu, sliced fish, chicken, assorted vegetables and sliced fish. 

And here’s something to level up the experience — instead of the usual tables and chairs, you’ll be dining on ice stools and tables (don’t worry about sitting directly on the ice, there’ll be cushions placed on the seats to keep you warm and snug!). 

If you’re not up for hot pot, there’ll also be new additions to the winter playground like snowboarding and skiing lessons and activities so you can show off your skills during your next holiday (Swiss Alps or Hokkaido, maybe?).

But what if we told you that you can truly experience winter and snow, with all the joys that come with it, in Singapore this December? 

Running for an entire month from 1 December 2022 to 1 January 2023, Ice Magic: The Great Fantasy on Ice will transform our sunny island’s Bayfront event space into the biggest icy winter playground you’ve ever seen in Singapore as part of the The Great Bay Fiesta 2022 (which also includes exciting circus acts and a mega carnival!) — you’ll really feel like you’re in a winter wonderland with all the amazing sights, experiences and of course, perfectly cold temperatures. 

The winter pop-up will be divided into two main sections — the Snow Section and the Ice Section, each including their own unique stations and exciting activities for you to partake in. 

Have a snowball fight, or build a snowman at the Snow Section. Here, you’ll be able to experience real snow thanks to the snow-making machines flown in directly from Beijing (these are also used in the Beijing Winter Olympics 2022, so you know that the authenticity of your experience will be top-notch!).

And that’s not all — the fresh snow made from the machine will also be actually falling like real snow, so it’ll really feel like you’re experiencing a real snow day. Last but not least for this section, you’ll also be awed by a massive record-breaking 70 metre snow slope perfect for your TikToks and IG stories! 

Bring out your inner athlete at the Ice Section, where you’ll be able to enjoy classic Winter Olympic sports like Ice Bowling and Ice Curling. There’ll also be an ice cycling rink with both normal bicycles and tandem bicycles so you can have the time of your life here whether you prefer flying solo or riding with your boo.

This section will also house a 4.5 metre high figure-8 Ice Slide made entirely out of glistening ice as well as an array of ice sculptures created by talented artists from Harbin (the place most well-known for their insanely intricate ice sculptures!). 

When it’s time for a little break, head on over to the Ice Bar — an icy tavern serving refreshingly cold beer (that you won’t have to worry about getting warm!) and unique ice-themed cocktails. 

For the little ones, there’ll also be a Chocolate Origin pop-up cafe here for them to enjoy their favourite treats — and there’ll be a ‘’secret code’’ mini game as well for visitors to win prizes with every entry!
