Good coffee and aesthetics come into play at Anagram, a newly opened minimalist cafe and coffee bar in Queenstown that you definitely need to check out.
Founded by muay Thai champion James Bird, the cafe, located in Anchorpoint Shopping Centre, has been slowly gaining traction amongst avid cafe-hoppers, coffee aficionados, and those who enjoy basking in aesthetic, design-forward spaces.
Unlike most other minimalist cafes, Anagram stands out with its soft yet rustic wabi-sabi interior. From the rugged stone countertop and carved wooden stools in earthy nude tones to the sleek glasshouse exteriors, each and every design element thoughtfully adds to the overall calming vibes of the space.
Quality espresso-based and filter coffee using beans from local roastery Tad Coffee take centre stage — go for the nutty, full-bodied White (S$5) or Piccolo (S$4.50), which is made using the ANNA signature blend comprising a blend of beans from Colombia, Ethiopia, and Uganda.
Those who are able to appreciate the fine (and less acidic) art of filter coffee can savour the Guest Filter Brew (from S$8).
There are only two non-caffeinated options on the menu, for now: Chai (from S$7) and Juice (S$7).
Pair your beverage of choice with a rotating selection of bakes like Pain Au Chocolat, Banana Bread, Brown Butter Financiers, and huge New York Style Cookies studded with chunks of chocolate (I’ll take this and an iced Black, thank you very much).
It’s a stunning (but small) space to unwind over coffee and fresh bakes on a slow day — we highly recommend going down during off-peak hours if you want to snag a seat!
