Newsflash: a robot barista named ELLA may be coming to an MRT station near you.
Technology has paved the way for a new era of retail experiences, and this is a game-changer. In collaboration with full-stack start-up Crown Digital and Stellar Lifestyle from SMRT Corporation Limited, Bytes Station is a newly launched tech-driven F&B concept in Raffles Place MRT Station.
Bytes Station is the first robot barista lifestyle experience to be incorporated into our train station network. As such, ELLA will be deployed into 30 MRT stations across the island by the end of the year.
Coffee of the future
The fully autonomous, AI-powered ELLA can churn out up to 200 cups of gourmet coffee per hour, and I can attest to that. My latte was ready in a flash (or at least it felt like it).
Place your orders and make payment directly through the ELLA mobile app or the self-ordering terminal. Once ready, you will receive a notification via the app and can scan your assigned QR code to collect your coffee and/or food order from ELLA’s pigeonhole or the digital lockers. It’s that easy.
The entire experience is made consistent, convenient, and contactless — it’s practically seamless. And you don’t have to worry about having cash or even a physical credit card on hand.
Can a robot barista really make good coffee? Yes, it can.
ELLA produces barista-quality coffee brewed using ground-to-order Buscaglione coffee beans from Rome. Prefer your coffee iced and with flavoured syrup? By all means. A plant-based Oatly oat milk option is also available.
Grab-and-go food options for all
Bytes Station’s sandwich and smoothie kiosk feature an extensive menu catered to the CBD crowd. Choose from sourdough, ciabatta, and croissant sandwiches with meat and vegetarian-friendly options like the signature Pesto Chick Ciabatta (S$10.90) and Avo-Caprese Croissant (S$10.90).
The health-conscious can turn to SportyFood, protein-rich and low-carbohydrate sports foods, as well as snacks and smoothies enriched with Myprotein. Be it a fitness enthusiast fresh out of spin class or a frazzled office worker looking to beat the afternoon slump, there is something for everyone.
