If you’ve ever wondered what army life is like, or are anticipating your future NS days, you can’t miss Camp 1N, an army-themed experience at the Singapore Discovery Centre (SDC) with camouflage painting activities, field cooking, and staying in your very own tent. The camp runs from 28 November to 9 December 2022, so you can choose whichever dates you fancy.
Recommended for families and kids five and above (perfect for keeping the kids occupied during the December holidays) , the 2-day camp will give you some of the Tekong experience.
On both days, you can put your wits to the test at the Black Lake Facility escape room, where you’ll get to solve mysteries, play an exhilarating game of laser tag, and so much more. During free-and-easy periods, you can make crafts, or go on guided tours.
You’ll even get to have your own field pack, complete with your own army rations, camo paint, and more. Learn to camouflage yourself with military face paint, pitch a basha tent with your campmates, and cook your own meal — the full works.
You can also participate in an eco-sustainability workshop, where you can learn about biodiversity, and grow your own microgreens to take home. At night, there will be a special mission – a puzzle you have to solve with clues and riddles to solve, with a mystery prize for the winners.
In the evening, take the opportunity to roast marshmallows by the lake before winding down for the night with your family and friends.
Snuggle up in your indoor tents, which can accommodate up to five persons per tent, and get ready for a second morning of action-packed activities.
The camp (S$599) is inclusive of all meals, a welcome camp kit and admission to all SDC signature attractions, as well as the Permanent Exhibits Gallery. Meals will be provided by Bottle Tree Café Restaurant. Although the restaurant is not halal-certified, the meals provided are prepared without pork and lard.
