Deck the halls, because it’s time to ring in the Christmas season with Orchard Road’s Christmas on A Great Street 2022, returning for the first time since the pandemic. You can expect a Christmas-themed extravaganza with exciting rides, live festive music, workshops, and many more.
If you want to view the iconic Christmas lights, Orchard Road is the best place to start, with a spectacular teal and white arch greeting visitors as they arrive, alongside ornate Christmas trees decorated with reindeer and baubles on each side of the road. The 3.1km light-up will span Tanglin Mall to Plaza Singapura (including Scotts Road), and consist of 104 trees lit-up with white festive lights.
Soak in the festive atmosphere and pay a visit to the Great Christmas Village, which is where you can go on fun rides such as an inflatable bouncy castle, Samba Balloon, and Singapore’s first-ever all-white carousel, alongside countless other attractions including a swing, teacups, and a train ride.
Speciality food items will also make an appearance at this year’s Great Christmas Village, which will feature a beer garden and vendors like Veganburg, Ben & Jerrys, Speciality Thai Grills, and more. Participate in an art workshop and choose from alcohol ink painting, tapestry weaving, and clay modelling and crafting, and you’ll get to take home your very own creations, or gift a friend or a loved one a handmade Christmas gift.
Live music also returns to Orchard Road, with performances from local artists including Jack & Rai, Cold Cut Duo, Daniel Sid and Fyrdaus Macbeth performing every Friday to Sunday evening until Christmas day.
Be enthralled by a 10-minute multimedia 3D projection show with augmented reality (AR) features on the façade of Mandarin Gallery facing Ngee Ann City – and the best part is, it runs daily until Christmas! Additional special features will appear on the giant outdoor projection during the countdowns on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, so don’t miss making a stop at the Mandarin Gallery.
