If you’re in Singapore, you’d know just how the sweltering heat takes a toll on us. Personally, I struggle to hold a conversation with anyone while walking on the streets. The scorching sun, accompanied by the stickiness radiating from my skin, sends me into a rage.
What’s the first thing that comes to your mind when you’re in this situation? Is it to find the nearest shade, the nearest mall with a full blast of air conditioning, or a large scoop of ice cream to ease the heat?
I hope I’m not being too ambitious to want it all, and in any case, you’re just like me, we should visit this halal-friendly gelato place, so we can all take a break from this antagonising heat.
CHURN° is a vibrant new ice cream concept by the team behind Melvados, serving freshly-churned ice cream in unique flavours like Strawberry Matcha, Pistachio Almond, and Earl Grey Lavender.
I’m particularly excited to try out the above mentioned flavours as a fan of strawberry matcha, and pistachio. If you’ve already been, please do let me know if it lives up to your expectations.
Located at HomeTeamNS Khatib and Tampines 1, each serving of ice cream starts from S$4.90, and the double goes at S$9.50. Add on S$1 per scoop if you’re getting the premium flavours. Cone lovers can opt for a Classic Cone at an additional S$1.20, and a Speciality Cone for S$1.90.
But for Gen-Zs, what’s ice cream without waffles? Opt for their Classic Waffle at an additional S$6, or a Specialty Waffle at an additional S$7.
Even if you’re not feeling ice cream, CHURN° has an extensive menu of beverages such as iced Mocha Cloud (S$7), iced Matcha Earl Grey (S$7), and iced Matcha Strawberry Latte (S$7). For the health conscious, the ice cream shop also offers Protein Smoothie at S$8, Turmeric Latte (Hot: S$5.50, Iced: S$6), and Kombucha at S$6.50.
Aside from ice cream, CHURN° also has an all-in-one Banana Pudding Cake with honey sponge cake, matcha ice cream, caramelised bananas, banana pudding ice cream, and cake crumbs. So if you’re a banana pudding matcha person, you should definitely have a taste of this cake.
I can foresee myself visiting CHURN° the next time the heatwave hits me, which probably means you will catch me there more often than you think.
