Culinary Class Wars stars set to spice up Singapore with pop-up restaurants and menus in 2025 featuring Lim Hee Won, Kim Tae Sung and more

by Glenda Chong

Singapore, brace yourselves.

If you’ve been obsessed with the hit Netflix culinary competition show Culinary Class Wars (if not, where have you been?), this one’s for you.

The heat is about to turn up in Singapore, and I’m not talking about our notoriously hot weather. That’s right, the stars from the show are finally bringing their culinary prowess from the screen to our seats!

This year, four chefs from Culinary Class Wars are bringing their best bites to our Little Red Dot with pop-up restaurants and menus

If you’re looking to get a taste of these legends’ craft, you’ve come to the right place.

1. Chef Yoon Nam No

First up, we have the “Cooking Maniac” chef Yoon Nam No! With his meme-worthy expressions, his quirkiness, and his talent, he emerged as one of the top four contestants of the show.

Now, the “Cooking Maniac” is causing a stir (admin writes with much love). Together with popular KBBQ chain SEORAE JIB’s kitchens, he’s creating four exclusive dishes.

To give you the lowdown, these dishes use unique fermentation methods from traditional Korean techniques. Ingredients like miso, makgeolli, and Korean sake are used in the process.

The dishes include special KBBQ meats Misoyaki Galmaegisal and Buchaesal Sotbap, rice pot dish Nuruk So Anchangsal, and the dessert Makkoli Sorbet

Although the KBBQ meats aren’t available as a la carte (only as part of the BBQ set menus), the Buchaesal Sotbap and Makkoli Sorbet can be ordered on their own. Available until 28 March 2026 at all SEORAE JIB outlets, get ready to feast.

2. Chef Lim Hee Won

Next, the “Celebrities’ Chef” Lim Hee Won, will be in town at Korean grill restaurant GU:UM to whip up a special Doljanchi-themed menu.

For the uninitiated, “Doljanchi” refers to the traditional Korean celebration of a baby’s first birthday. Especially fitting, as it’s also GU:UM’s first birthday.

Eight courses are featured in Chef Lim Hee Won’s version. And for those of you who’ve been wanting to try out his cooking, four of these are signatures from his own restaurant, Buto.

The dishes you can anticipate will definitely leave your mouth watering (I know mine is!) Mala Bibimmyeon with Abalone and Cured Herring Roe, Eggplant Menbosha, and more – if that doesn’t sound amazing, I don’t know what does.

But the true star of the show has to be the Vegetarian Sashimi. Yes, that one.

This dish was one of the most attention-grabbing, with fellow contestants vocalising my thoughts of wanting to try the dish for themselves. Do make sure to reserve a seat in advance as this menu will only be served on 12 April 2025.

3. Chef Kim Tae Sung

Not to worry if you miss out on Chef Lim Hee Won’s exclusive menu. Fellow chef “Hidden Genius” Kim Tae Sung is also collaborating with GU:UM

Specialising in Italian fusion dishes, he is best known for his unconventional ways of cooking.

Unfortunately, there hasn’t been news of what’s on the menu nor confirmed dates. So, don’t scramble to GU:UM just yet, and keep a close eye on their socials for updates.

4. Chef Song Ha Seul Ram

Known as the “Banchan Chef”, Chef Song Ha Seul Ram will also be gracing GU:UM with his own flavours. Seems like GU:UM is the place to be this year!

However, like Chef Kim, there’s no news of his menu at GU:UM or the dates the menu will be available. Nonetheless, you can most definitely prepare for your tastebuds to be blown away in the coming months.

With the beloved Culinary Class Wars stars landing in Singapore in these next few months, we’ll be in for a treat!
