Glacier is a new all-white botanical cafe with pandan mochi waffles and gorgeous french toast

by Evan Mua

We know minimalist white cafes have been popping up everywhere, but the newest all-white cafe Glacier is different — it’s opened as a collaboration between 2 popular F&B establishments in Singapore, Onalu and Bricklane.

If you’re from SMU, you’d be familiar with the 2 places which are located on campus. But for those who aren’t, Onalu is a cafe known for making delectable but affordable bagels, while Bricklane has many regulars coming back for their quirky fusion rice bowls and bar bites.

It’s hard to not fall in love with the cafe space at Glacier which is a clean, minimalist white throughout the walls and furniture. Those tasteful touches of botanicals really helped to make it feel very elegant and Scandinavian.

Their menu is quite diverse and features everything from gelato to bakes to brunch food. You name it, you got it here. Plus if you need a place for weekend hangs, they’re open until 1am on Friday and Saturday.

In Glacier’s gelato department, the cafe churns out some interesting flavours including Black Sesame and Earl Grey Lavender, and a very unique Blue Pea Panda Lemon Grass. Single scoops cost S$4, Double Scoops S$7.50, with an additional S$1 for premium flavours.

Not only that but the ice cream accompaniments here are also wildly interesting. They serve a chewy and stretchy Pandan Mochi Waffles (S$8) that will add some textural spark to your desserts.

But if you’re not looking for gelato and want some sumptuous brunch bites, Glacier delivers one of the nicest cafe foods around Singapore. At least in terms of Insta-worthiness in this Glacier French Toast (S$16) that has gotten quite a lot of social media hype.

The fluffy French Toast is dressed up stunningly with florals and fruits such as the sexily charred caramelised bananas, candied nuts and edible flowers. It’s then topped with some mascarpone and maple syrup to give it the final sweet touch.

Otherwise, you can also go for Glacier’s take on the cafe classic Smoked Salmon & Avocado Toast (S$18) if you’re not particularly fond of sweet stuff. A brunch classic but spruced up with mad presentation skills, prepare for egg porn upon a bed of semi-smoked salmon and guac.

Could this perhaps be the prettiest cafe this year for both decor and food presentation? It’s definitely up there.
