Gong Cha has a limited-edition Solero ice cream-inspired bubble tea with stretchy mochi

One of my favourite ice creams that I used to enjoy as a kid has got to be the classic Solero Lime & Vanilla Split.

As much as I’ve developed a taste for fancy gelato as an adult, the combination of creamy vanilla ice cream and the refreshing lime-flavoured sorbet shell is oh-so nostalgic. It never fails to take me back to those simpler days.

If you’re in the mood to reminisce, Gong Cha is here to take you and I on a trip down memory lane with their latest Solero ice cream-inspired bubble tea with drinkable mochi.

Launched in collaboration with ice cream brand Walls, this drink consists of Solero ingredients (like a lime syrup), freshly-made mochi and Gong Cha’s signature green tea, along with an exclusive cup sleeve, available for S$5.80 per cup while stocks last.

Although I enjoyed how tart, creamy, and refreshing the tea itself was, it was the mochi that threw me off. It may be a bit of an acquired taste, especially if you’re sensitive to texture. Perhaps it would’ve been a lot more appealing (and more similar to Solero, taste-wise) if the mochi was replaced with vanilla ice cream!

But that’s just me, so I recommend you try it for yourself. Also, if you’re one of the first 1,200 to purchase a cup, you’ll also score a free S$5 ice cream voucher.

This Solero-inspired creation is exclusively available for walk-in purchases (sorry, no online orders) at all outlets (except those at hospitals) starting today for a limited time only.
