As a proud eastie, the Katong-Joo Chiat area is one of my favourite hangout spots on the island. From countless hip cafes and bars to historical shophouses and eclectic retail stores, not forgetting good ol’ i12 Katong, it’s a charming neighbourhood that never fails to keep me hooked.
Regardless of where you enjoy spending your time, you’ve probably been hearing the all-too-familiar tunes being played in malls and supermarkets (ever since Boxing Day last year) that can only mean one thing — Chinese New Year is approaching.
If you’ve yet to recover from all that Christmas and New Year’s Eve feasting and shopping, I hate to break it to you, but January and February will get even more hectic.
In fact, why not make the most of it by ringing in the festivities and scoring deals at the same time from now till February 2024 at i12 Katong?
Firstly, you’re better off getting started on all your CNY shopping, so those seeking new clothes and bedsheets can hit up brands like The Kin Thread, Bochechas, and Sunday Bedding. Out with the old, in with the new, amiright?

The highly-anticipated Lion Dance Performance will be taking place for one day only on 16 February, 12pm, so save the date if you want to be treated to something truly spectacular!
There will also be a Festive Market showcasing an array of delightful snacks, decorations, and flowers held till 8 February – two days before the first day of CNY — so you have plenty of time to get your home spruced up and ready.
If you’ve been shopping at i12 Katong all this while but have yet to download KLIK By Keppel, the rewards programme available via Google Play and the Apple Store that lets you earn points when you shop, this is the best time to do so, because KLIK members will get tons of exclusive festive rewards.
