Look out! The first Johor Bahru to Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link train has finally been unveiled.

Train enthusiasts, your time has come. On 30 June 2025, the very first RTS Link train was officially revealed to the public in Malaysia, marking a major milestone in the long-anticipated cross-border transport project.
This debut train is the first of eight that will eventually operate on the RTS Link between the Bukit Chagar Station and the Woodlands North Station which can be accessed from the Thomson-East Coast Line.

The passenger service is expected to begin in December 2026, which is a date that’s just around the corner, especially considering the current progress.
According to updates from the Land Transport Authority, the overall project is already more than 50% complete, including the construction of tracks, trains, stations, and control systems.

The new, fully automated RTS Link trains are expected to house four train cars with a capacity of over 600 passengers.
That means that, during peak hours, the trains will service 10,000 passengers each hour in both directions, which is a massive leap forward in improving cross-border connectivity and making it even easier to visit family and friends across the border.

Visually, the trains will carry a bold design that proudly incorporates elements of the national flags of Malaysia and Singapore, as well as the state flag of Johor.

Safety, of course, remains a top priority.
Before the first passengers board, the trains will undergo rigorous testing both at the Singapore Rail Test Centre and along the RTS Link tracks. This will ensure that all systems are functioning flawlessly before the service officially launches.
