This all-pink Joo Chiat CC building is a perfectly dreamy OOTD/Tik Tok spot

We don’t always have extremely photo-worthy spots in Singapore, but when we do, they continue to solidify Singapore’s title as “most Instagrammable place in the world” by Big 7 Travel. Here’s another location to add to your list in a place you’d least expect — Joo Chiat Community Centre. It’s pink, it’s gorgeous, and best of all, it’s free to visit.

Armed with the hashtag #accidentallywesanderson, the charming building easily transports visitors to an idyllic space reminiscent of the filmmaker’s distinctive visuals. You can opt to dress to theme, or deck yourself in colours that’ll deliberately pop against the pastel pink background — either way, it’s hard to get a bad shot when the setting already looks so, so good.

Play into the building’s unique architecture

With nooks and crannies, winding stairwells, and cutouts in the walls, it’s a photographer’s haven to get creative here. Take inspiration from the many other OOTDs that have gone before you for the most flattering angles and framing that’ll easily make you look like you’ve temporarily stepped out of Singapore.

And I hope I’m not pushing it, but with the correct angle and enough colour correction, you might even be able to make the stairwells look like something straight out of Squid Game’s pre-game arena. There’s really no limit when you’re armed with Photoshop, that much I’ll say.

Getting there

Wedged right in the heart of Katong, it’s best to reach Joo Chiat Community Centre via bus instead of MRT if you’re travelling via public transport — at least until the Marine Parade MRT Station is up and running.

You can either take bus 43 from Paya Lebar MRT Station and ride seven stops until Opp Parkway Parade bus stop, or board bus 16 from Dakota MRT Station and alight at Aft Duku Rd bus stop after four stops, which presents a route with less walking.
