Now that the karaoke ban has lifted (hooray!), it’s time for late night karaoke sessions to resume. If you’re up for an experience that’s quite literally out of this world, K.STAR is a unique themed karaoke bar in Dhoby Ghaut worth checking out.
They have two outlets, one in Orchard Central, and the other in Plaza Singapura, but the latter, which opened in early 2021, was unable to operate as a fully-fledged karaoke bar due to COVID restrictions. Not anymore.
Trippy galaxy-themed interior
Step into the futuristic set-up of life-sized tutu-wearing astronauts and trippy space-themed decor. Neon fixtures and eclectic photo-worthy spots are aplenty, making K.STAR a great spot for the ‘gram.
Unique karaoke rooms
Aptly described as “psychedelic with a touch of underground funk”, the 22 karaoke rooms you can choose from are decked out in themes like carnival, anime, retro, and more. Sing your lungs out at one of the popular Thematic Rooms, which are suited for groups of up to six pax.
If you’ve got a gang of 12 (or 10, for now), the Deluxe Rooms are where it’s at. Planning a graduation party, hen’s night, or even a proposal? K.STAR offers customised event experience packages at S$118++ and S$238++ for a Thematic Small Room and a Thematic Deluxe Room respectively.
Parties of 12 can also take things up a notch at the Panorama Rooms, where you can vibe to 360-degree wall projections and high-tech animations that change according to your chosen song.
For large family events, birthday celebrations, or bachelor parties, make a beeline for the Party Suites, which can accommodate up to 30 pax (which sounds crazy at this point in time). Fingers crossed.
Futuristic Korean minimart
Fuel up on Korean and Japanese snacks and drinks at the equally aesthetic in-house minimart, which kinda gives off cyperpunk vibes.
Pop by the bar counter and choose from an extensive selection of cocktails, wine, beer, and soft drinks.
For something a little more substantial, K.STAR offers both Western and Asian options, from Calamari Rings (S$8.50) to the bestselling Sliced Beef & Ox Tongue in Chilli Sauce (S$11.80).
Rates & packages
Rates start at S$25++/hour for a Thematic Room during Happy Hours (12 pm–8pm) on weekdays. Expect to pay S$35++/hour during Peak Hours (8pm–3am) on weekends and public holidays.
There are also packages for specific types of alcohol e.g. Remy Martin Club Package and Macallan 12 Years Package if you want to sing K with lots of booze.
