KFC has rolled out many novelty items over the years but there’s one item that most people will always remember — the KFC Zinger Double Down.
When it first came out in 2012, it caught everyone’s attention. A burger with crispy chicken patties as the “buns”? Who wouldn’t want to indulge in that crazy-sounding combo?
And it’s become a bit of a classic since then. Now, after missing from the menus for a bit, a new cheesier version will be rolling out on 4 June 2021.
Like all previous versions KFC put out, this new Cheesy Zinger Double Down comes with a slice of cheese and some crispy turkey bacon, sandwiched between two deep-fried Zinger fillets.
Instead of the regular mayo drizzle, it comes loaded with cheese sauce instead for maximum decadence. It sounds like it could be to-die-for, literally.
Thankfully we have a lot of time and motivation to work off those calories while working from home every day right? *laughs nervously *
You can get the burger complete in a meal with the KFC Cheesy Zinger Double Down Meal (S$9.50) which comes with fries and a drink.
Alternatively, there’s also the heartier KFC Cheesy Zinger Double Down Box (S$11.30) that also has a piece of chicken and whipped potato.
It’s actually not the first time KFC has come up with a super cheesy makeover for their fried chicken sandwiched creations.
Last year, KFC also launched a Mozzarella Zinger Double Down that came with a Mozzarella Cheese patty instead of just sauced and bacon.
It was great material to get those cheesy string pull boomerangs to put up on your social media.
This time around, KFC decided to go back to the basics with a more simple combination of ingredients in this Zinger Double Down, jazzed up by some cheesy sauce.
But hey, sometimes less is more, especially for something already as sinful as the Double Down.
