This event showcases lantern displays depicting various countries around the world, from Singapore to Italy, as well as a lovely view of the lake filled with floating water lanterns. And with activities such as releasing floating lanterns into the lake or setting off lanterns into the sky… It’s kinda like our very own version of the famous Yi Peng & Loy Krathong festivals in Thailand!

Once here, go on a lantern walk and admire the lanterns that were handcrafted by artisans from China and watch the glow from the lanterns light up the night sky. Apart from admiring the lanterns, there are plenty of interactive activities Lights by the Lake offers as well.

Take part in guessing lantern riddles and go on a sunset walk as the transition to night unfolds before your eyes, and try your hand at other activities such as making your own lanterns, or crafting a dream bubble.

There will also be a Presidents’ Challenge booth at the event, where you can pay a nominal fee to release a floating lantern into the lake, set off a lantern into the sky, or take home your own potted plants.

And if you’re feeling peckish, treat yourself to yummy street food at the bazaar, which has plenty of food stands and drinks for a delicious meal under the moonlight amidst the unique lantern displays.

Finally, end off your night with music performances from local musicians such as Two Four and Six Fusion, yIN Harmony and The Clarinet Concord, and dance performances by NUS Chinese Dance

During the day, you can also take part in fringe activities organised by PAssionWaVe, from dragon boat try-outs to tea appreciation sessions. Centred around Chinese culture and the Mid-Autumn festival, the free workshops are a must-do if you enjoy getting immersed in cultural traditions.

With so much to see and do this Mid-Autumn Festival at Lights by the Lake 2022, you know where we’ll be this weekend!
