As we inch closer and closer to the Mid-Autumn Festival, it’s not just mooncakes we can look forward to.

Mark your calendars: the annual Lights by the Lake is back this 2024, at Jurong Lake Gardens, in the form of a 15-day extravaganza packed with fun-filled activities you won’t wanna miss.

Lucky you, Westies.

First and foremost, get ready to feast your eyes on beautiful lantern displays, all meticulously crafted by professional lantern artisans, showcasing the rich biodiversity of the gardens.

The popular floating lanterns (yes, those on the water) will also be making a comeback, alongside new origami-inspired designs, and light and projection mapping shows.

As you admire the mesmerising displays, why not challenge yourself to traditional lantern riddles, just like in the good old days? You’ll be able to test your wits from 7pm–9pm on weekdays (9–12, 16–19 September).

Otherwise, head on down during the weekends (8, 13–15, 20–22 September) to be entertained by cultural showcases and music performances, like traditional dances and contemporary musical expressions, in a celebration of artistry and our cultural heritage.

Most excitingly, Rockestra® will also be returning for its 21st edition on 14 September, featuring a line-up of local artists that will perform ‘Moonlit Melodies’ — a selection of Mandarin and English songs ranging from timeless classics to modern chart-toppers.

All we can say is, you’re definitely in for an evening of musical fun!

There’ll also be a night bazaar running for the entire duration of the festivities, so you can snack on your favourite street eats while trying your hand at exciting carnival games or catching a free movie screening.

Although the list of movies has yet to be released, screenings will take place at 7pm (Monday to Thursday) and 7.30pm (Friday to Sunday) from 15 to 22 September.

Indeed, in the words of a famous British rock band: lights will guide you home, and ignite your bones.

A joyous gathering with friends and family under the moonlight awaits!
