Remember how much excitement it would bring us when our parents said that we were grabbing fast food like McDonald’s and KFC (who here was in the Chicky Club?) for dinner when we were kids?
These fast food chains often had bright interiors with orange and yellow chairs, as well as indoor playgrounds to keep the little ones entertained while the parents enjoy their meal.
Fast forward to a couple of decades later, fast food chains now have more sleek and minimalist interior designs to suit the ever-changing aesthetic trends of time. While we’re not complaining about these gorgeous outlets that we have now, it’s only human to feel a sense of longing and nostalgia for what we had in simpler times.
Luckily, there are still some places on our sunny island that remain like little pockets of our childhood in 2022 — and one of them is N&B Snacks tucked away in Potong Pasir.
Specialising in creamy soya milk and beancurd (that are freshly made in small batches in-house!) and an array of other old-school snacks like croissants, puffs and pies, this is a great place to visit if you’re looking for a little blast from the past.
As you step into the store, you’ll be greeted by a warm orange-themed interior, which would really remind you of an old-school McDonald’s outlet.
Here, you’ll be able to choose from and enjoy a variety of different snacks — and their prices remain pretty affordable too. Plus, they’re all freshly prepared in the store.
A must-order is their Peanut Dumplings in Soya Milk and Curd (S$4.20) — an all-time favourite healthy dessert that not only warms your tummy, but your soul too.
If you have a hankering for something savoury, try their Savoury Green Bean Croissant (S$3.40) — which is a buttery, fragrant and flaky croissant filled with unique green bean filling (Pain Au Green Bean?).
For those who are on team red bean, don’t worry, they have a Red Bean Croissant (S$3.40) too.
There are quite a few different snacks to choose from, so you’ll be able to find something to pair with their delicious Hot Soya Milk (S$2.10) or Large Chilled Soya Milk (S$2.70) for sure.
