Nampla? You mean the iconic fish sauce?
That was my first thought when I saw the name. But as it turns out, Nampla is also the name of a Thai restaurant in Marine Parade. Pretty clever, considering fish sauce is the heart and soul of Thai cuisine (admin snorted out loud when she read the name).
Since its opening in December 2024, Nampla has been such a hit that it expanded just a month later, opening a second dining space just a few doors down. And now, that second outlet is getting a revamp.
Say goodbye to the street-stall setup and hello to even more seating!
Now, let’s talk about the real star here: the food.
Khao Phad Rodfai, also known as Train Fried Rice, is one of their most popular dishes. Fun fact: Back in the day, this dish was sold on trains, making it a go-to meal for hungry travellers.
Today, you don’t need a train ticket to enjoy this comforting plate of Thai-style fried rice. Choose from Pork (S$9.90), Chicken (S$9.90), Mushroom (S$9.90), or go all out with the Prawn (S$12.90) version.
Another of their signature dishes is the Khao Kha Moo (S$9.80), a hearty serving of stewed pork leg rice that melts in your mouth.
Seafood lovers, you’re in for a treat. The Kung Klua Prik Krea (S$22.90) is stacked with tiger prawns fried with chili, salt, and crispy garlic. Looks absolutely drool-worthy.
And if you’re craving a bowl of comfort, their Tom Yum Goong (S$28) comes packed with ingredients like ten tiger prawns and more.
Of course, no Thai feast is complete without some Moo Ping (S$8 for three pieces). Juicy, grilled pork skewers that are a crowd favourite (admin usually skips this though).
Other mains also include Holy Basil Minced Pork with Rice (S$7.90), Garlic Pepper Chicken with Rice (S$5.90), P’ Tee Tom Yum MAMA (S$18.90), and more.
Lastly, you definitely need to wash it all down with a refreshing, ice-cold cup of Cha Yen (S$4.80).
Not gonna lie; just writing this made my stomach growl.
