We’ve heard plenty of success stories from home-based businesses that opened physical cafes or stores over the past two years, and Ree.Connect by Ree and Mummy is one of them.
Even better — the newly opened dessert cafe best known for its cheesecake is now in my all-time favourite neighbourhood, Katong.
Having initially started out as a humble home baking business by a mummy-and-daughter duo, Ree and Mummy’s signature bakes and gelato can now be found at a simple and cosy 12-seater cafe in Katong V.
If you haven’t already tried their signature burnt cheesecake creations, it’s high time you did. Go for the creamy, light, and mildly tangy Charred Pineapple (S$6.50 per slice), the number one bestseller, or the Chocolate Hazelnut Cheesecake (S$7.20 per slice), a decadent Oreo and hazelnut ganache-topped delight.
All cheesecakes can also be ordered whole (6-inch and 8-inch) — perfect for birthday celebrations and other special occasions.
Not into cheesecakes? Cool down with assorted Gelato (S$4 for single, S$7.50 for double, additional S$1 for premium flavours) in must-try flavours including Pineapple Cheesecake (the gelato version of the signature cheesecake), Pistachios, dairy-free Dark Chocolate, and Lemon Tart, which takes inspiration from the nostalgic Khong Guan Lemon Biscuit.
You can even get your gelato to go in an adorable Gelato Can (S$9), or the much more conventional Gelato Pint (S$20). Either way, they make excellent gifts for your loved ones.
Speciality coffees and teas aside, other offerings include House-made Waffles (S$8.50 with a single scoop, S$12 with a double scoop), Melty Cookie (from S$11.50 for single), and Toffee (S$22) in flavours like Coffee Pecan and Walnut Cranberries.
The unique Breakthrough Box (from S$38) consists of toffee, pretzels, premium nuts, and dark chocolate which you can literally break into pieces — it’s a combination of sweet, salty, bitter, and crunchy you’ll find it hard to resist. Once again, there are gifting options galore!
