As someone who used to travel to Thailand very frequently for work and absolutely loves my Thai food, I always get random cravings for this flavourful cuisine. Thankfully here in Singapore, we have no lack of Thai eateries to head to when the cravings hit, and better yet, here’s another affordable Thai cafe to add to the list.

Make your way to Rod Dee Thai Cafe in Outram, the latest Thai cafe on our radar for serving affordable Thai food with mains under S$10!

Aptly named Rod Dee, which means “good taste” in Thai, savour your favourite Thai dishes from Thai Boat Noodles (S$8.80) to fragrant Thai Basil Rice with pork or chicken (S$8.80) served with a sunny side up, and even the evergreen favourite – tender sticks of Moo Ping (grilled pork skewers, S$7.80). The menu is pretty extensive with a variety of familiar Thai dishes ranging from appetisers and mains to seafood, curries and soups.

But if you have an especially soft spot for Thai Boat Noodles – make sure to order a serving here. The broth is brewed for almost 12 hours daily ensuring that the boat noodles are packed with hearty flavour, and you can choose the noodles you want too! Glass noodles, mama noodles, rice noodles or kway teow noodles, simply take your pick.

Otherwise, if you’re keen to try more dishes instead of simply ordering a main, feel free to sample other dishes like chef-recommended Deep Fried Seabass with Mango Salad (S$26.80) and Rod Dee Tom Yum Goong (S$15.80) – or the usual choices like Minced Pork Omelette (S$9.80) and Lala with Thai Chilli Paste (S$12.80).

Of course, no Thai meal is complete without Thai desserts. Choose from everyone’s favourite Mango Sticky Rice (S$8.80) with juicy mango atop a bed of sticky sweet glutinous rice generously drizzled with coconut milk, to Red Ruby (S$5.80), Mango Sago (S$5.80) and Coconut Ice-Cream (S$2.80 per scoop).

For drinks, apart from the usual Thai teas, we hear the refreshing Ice Blended Coconut (S$5.80) is really good too.

So if you’re looking for the next Thai spot that’ll make you go “aroy mak mak!” (“very very delicious” in Thai), here’s one place to head to next!

PS: They also have a S$10.80 lunch set that includes boat noodles or rice, plus a side dish and a drink that you might want to check out.
