Shake Shack Singapore is best known for releasing limited-time specials with every new opening. From outlet-exclusive frozen custards to unique wall murals, the cult burger chain always goes all out.
For the first time ever, Shake Shack is partnering with chef Malcolm Lee of Candlenut, the only Michelin-starred Peranakan restaurant in the world to bring back the iconic Buah Keluak Burger — at a way more affordable price.
The extremely limited two-item menu, consisting of the Buah Keluak Burger (S$12.90) and Curry Fries (S$5.20), will be available for one day only on 5 November 2022 (Saturday) at Shake Shack’s Neil Road outlet, from 11am (while stocks last).
Originally created as a Candlenut staff meal, the elusive burger only appears during special events and collaborations (it last appeared on the restaurant’s takeaway and delivery menu in August 2021 for one week only), so this is a rare opportunity for those who have yet to get their hands on it!
Get ready to sink your teeth into an Angus beef patty covered in buah keluak, topped with Chef Lee’s Mum’s Chicken Curry sauce, cucumber, a fried egg, American cheese, diced pickles and ikan bilis sambal, served on a potato bun toasted with garlic butter.
Meanwhile, the Curry Fries are seasoned with a secret blend of curry powder and salt and were conceptualised in tribute to Candlenut’s signature Mum’s Chicken Curry.
I managed to get my hands on the previous (and more premium) iteration of the Buah Keluak Burger (yes, in August 2021), and it was so incredibly delicious that I ordered it twice in the span of a week. It’s that good.
This is Shake Shack’s Singapore first-ever collaboration with a chef ever since its opening in Singapore, and we hope to see more in the future.
