You may have come across an array of captivating light installations while walking around the Bugis Bras Basah precinct over the weekend, which can only mean one thing — the highly-anticipated Singapore Night Festival 2024 is in full swing.
It’s that time of the year when the city comes alive at night, aglow with light. How magical!
In line with this year’s theme, Art of Play, festival-goers can look forward to a myriad of interactive experiences, installations, and activities that tap into the joy and creativity of play, taking place all the way from now till 7 September 2024.
Don’t know where to start? There’s plenty to look forward to at the festival villages in iconic malls like Capitol Singapore and CHIJMES.
Firstly, head down to the Outdoor Plaza at Capitol Singapore for Illuminated Displays inspired by old-school games like Pick Up Sticks.
You’ll even get to unleash your inner child and try your hand at the trending interactive Floor Is Lava game, where players race to step on as many lit-up tiles as possible while avoiding the red ‘lava’ — perfect for an evening of family bonding and friendly competition!
If you’re visiting over the weekend (30 and 31 August), the Outdoor Plaza will be transformed into a stage for Jazz’in @ Capitol Singapore: Sundown Serenades, a series of soulful jazz performances by musicians like Alemay Fernandez, Nick Zavior, and ALPACA.
These performances are free-to-watch, and will be held at 7.30pm–8.10pm and 8.40pm–9.20pm, so don’t be late!
Don’t worry if you start feeling peckish, as there’ll be Sip & Snack Booths offering refreshments from restaurants like Frieda German Restaurant and Ka-EN Grill & Sushi Bar till 9.30pm, ideal for a pick-me-up in between all that serenading.
Afterwards, head to CHIJMES for a visual feast in the form of mesmerising Projection Mapping Shows. Prepare to be enthralled by whimsical displays centred around the element of play, illuminating the façade of CHIJMES Hall in 15-minute intervals starting at 7.30pm.
You might end up seeing the storied building in a new light as you unwind on the lawn under the stars, all while savouring signature grilled tapas, bar bites and beer from Drinks & Co.
Don’t worry about missing out, as the shows (and F&B options) will run all the way till midnight throughout the entire festival. There’s no excuse not to head down after work or school!
Naturally, no local festival is complete without deals, deals, and more deals.
