Here’s where you can dance the night away with some of the city’s best DJs spinning the hottest tunes, sample gin from Québec, and meet famous authors at the Singapore Writers’ Festival 2022 – which turns the Arts House and the National Gallery into a festival playground from 4 to 20 November 2022.

The festival officially kicks off on 4 November, with an opening debate where speakers discuss the topic of remakes, followed by an opening performance by artiste weish, who has performed at various music festivals (and even wrote the theme song of award-winning movie Shirkers), so you can expect a night of fun and live music.

Don’t miss the various unique workshops offered, such as A Distillation of EcoPoetry: A Gin and Poetry Workshop, where you’ll get to sample the taste of Québec and the St Lawrence River through a curated selection of gins, and write your own poem inspired by your gin-tasting experience.

Spend an evening at the Mandala Club in If Flowers Could Speak: A Floral and Poetry Jam, a one-of-a-kind poetry reading set against the backdrop of a live floral demonstration by This Humid House, an award-winning botanical studio.
For the younger ones, let their imagination run wild with mystery boxes and touch live insects in Break It Down Now…With Bugs, and learn how insects play a role in breaking down food waste in this engaging workshop – not for the faint-hearted!

Popular authors will also be giving talks at the festival, including the likes of Chloe Gong, author of These Violent Delights, Dustin Thao, who wrote tearjerker You’ve Reached Sam, along with local creatives like Boey Kim Cheng, a prolific poet, and Meihan Boey, co-winner of the Epigram Books Fiction Prize in 2021, alongside other hit authors.
If you’re hungry and looking to grab a bite, hit up the many food trucks where you can refuel and enjoy your meal on the lawn, with ample seating available.

As the sun goes down, head over to the main Festival Village at the Arts House for SWF SunSets: DJ Sessions curated by industry stalwart Joshua P. The line-up features international DJ Matty Wainwright, who plays for the DJ Dispensary (including the world’s first underwater club at NIYAMA Maldives), and DJ Aurora, who curates her sets inspired by jazzy and soulful influences, organic sounds, and melodic riffs. All things considered, you’re in for a unique night out.
So, don’t miss the one-of-a-kind Singapore Writers’ Festival 2022, which promises three weekends of creative fun for the first time ever!
