If you’ve yet to wander into home goods store SOJAO while exploring Joo Chiat, this upcoming weekend (5 and 6 August) is the best time to do so.
Aside from the perfectly curated space that has graced many an aesthetic IG feed, SOJAO is known for hosting weekend cafe pop-ups showcasing local merchants, including home-based businesses and lesser-known brands.
Their latest two-day pop-up, Breakfast in Bed, sounds like a dream come true (for me, at least), given that they’ve rounded up some of the best local brands specialising in brunch-worthy bakes and brews.
Think pastries, bread, pies, and coffee — everything you need to start the weekend on a good note.
One of my favourite bakeries in Singapore, Mother Dough Bakery, will be making an appearance with a repetoire of sweet and savoury bakes, like Duck Pies with Shallot Confit and Jalapeno Jam, Vanilla-glazed and Espresso Sugar-dusted Donuts, Cinnamon Buns, and more.
I can foresee sourdough fanatics flocking to Marymount Bakehouse for their Sourdough Loaves, Sourdough Bao Sliders inspired by local tze char dishes, and unique Foccacia, all of which will be available from 12pm.
I’ve got my eye on the exquisite-sounding “Pomme De Terre” Foccacia (S$22 for half), which is topped with housemade chips, burnt leek cream, and truffle paste.
And if donuts are your thing, KŌBASHĪ will be there with their popular Sourdo’nuts and Sourdough Foccacia.
No breakfast or brunch is complete without a lil’ caffeine, which you can enjoy in the form of Bottled Onsen Coffees, Sea-Salt Caramel Lattes, Matcha, or even Spiced Chai from Cotob Coffee.
Otherwise, stay energised with Cold Brew Herbal Tea Elixirs, Kombucha, or Jamu Shots from Boujee Botanicals. Raspberry Ripple or Solero Split kombucha, anyone?
All food and drinks will be available from 11am onwards, while stocks last, so you’re better off heading down early if you’ve got your eye on a specific bake or brew.
