Everyone loves travelling — we’ll jump at any given opportunity to travel without blinking an eye. Did you know that the Taiwanese government is offering some attractive travel vouchers to entice you to visit the country? Even I wanna go to Taiwan just to win me some extra shopping money.
Since 1 May 2023, the Taiwan Tourism Bureau has been distributing travel vouchers worth S$213 (NTD5000) to visitors entering Taiwan — yes, everyone who enters the country will get a chance to win vouchers. The catch? You have to stay in Taiwan for three to 90 days and not hold a Republic of China Passport.
There will be a total of 250,000 vouchers up for grabs this year, with another 150,000 to be distributed in 2024 and the remaining 100,000 in 2025. This means that you have now until 2025 to plan a trip to Taiwan and get the chance to score these vouchers!
The vouchers will be given out lucky draw style — so, a little bit of luck will certainly help. The rules to enter this awesome giveaway are pretty simple. All you gotta do is to register online at least one to seven days prior to your arrival date in Taiwan. Registration is currently open so if you’ve got a trip to Taiwan coming up, make sure to register before you leave for your trip.
You’ll be prompted to fill in the necessary travel information. Then, you’ll need to choose the type of vouchers you would like to receive — electronic tickets or accommodation discount vouchers. You’ll then receive a QR code for the lucky draw via email upon successful registration. Make sure you don’t lose the QR code as you’ll need it later on.
When you arrive in Taiwan, you just have to head over to the lucky draw counter located at the arrival halls and from there, you’ll see if you win the vouchers — this is where you will need lady luck to be on your side. Just scan your QR code at the counter to see if you’re the lucky winner of the vouchers.
Lucky winners can redeem their prize at the airport’s redemption area. Remember to keep your documents — such as your entry stamp, boarding pass, and an e-copy of your round trip tickets — handy to speed up the collection process!
If you are one of the lucky winners (congratulations!), you can choose to claim your Taiwan travel vouchers in the form of electronic tickets stored on EasyCard or iPass and spend them at designated merchants. Do note that spending is capped at S$127.72 (NT$3,000) per day.
Alternatively, you can opt to receive accommodation vouchers which can be used to offset your accommodation costs.
Now if you’ll excuse me, it’s time for me to start planning my trip to Taiwan!
Are you all set for a trip to the land of street snacks and bubble tea?
