Although the festivities have come to an end, it’s still perfectly fine to treat yourself to the occasional indulgence.

Fans of the popular Japanese chain Tsuta can now visit their 313@somerset outlet not just for Michelin-starred ramen, but also high tea

Having just launched in February 2024, this Japanese-inspired Tsuta High Tea (S$19.80++ for two) adopts a “DIY concept” with a selection of sweet and savoury eats to choose from. You and your dining partner can select two items from each category: Sweet, Savoury, and Bites, so no two high tea sets are the same!

Also, this means that each diner only needs to fork out S$9.90++ — what a steal!

Mains come in the form of savouries like your choice of Mazesoba in flavours like Mala, Teriyaki Chicken, and Kurobishio (black pepper minced meat with black garlic oil), or Dons topped with Kakiage, Soboro (minced pork), and Salmon (+S$3.80), just to name a few.

Complement your mains with bites that wouldn’t look out of place on an izakaya’s menu, like Yaki Gyoza, Aburi Niku, and Teriyaki Chicken Pao.

Otherwise, you can choose from a variety of Nami Maki (open-faced seaweed rice rolls) paired with toppings like Negitoro (+S$0.80), Ebi Fry (+S$1.80), Avocado Ebi (+S$3.80), and Spicy Salmon (+S$3.80).

Finally, sweeten the deal with desserts like Bavaro (a cream-based pudding) in flavours of Matcha, Chocolate, or Black Sesame, or top up an extra S$1.80 for chewy Strawberry or Kiwi Daifuku

Wash it all down with a pot of invigorating Japanese tea at S$3.80 for two — choose from Mandarin Orange Black Tea, Mandarin Orange Green Tea, or Sakura White Tea.

But if you’re in a mood, why not put the “high” in high tea by opting for an hour of free-flow highballs at just S$16.80? I’ve always regarded the classic combination of whisky, soda, and lemon to be a refreshing palate-cleanser, and you should too.

The high tea is available daily from 3pm–6pm only at 313@somerset, so swing by for a mid-afternoon pick-me-up anytime!
