Knock back ice cold craft beers & hearty wagyu katsu sandos at this indie beer festival with food stalls, free admission to PRISM club & more

Are you a lover of craft beer? Good news for you – there’s a new beer festival in town. Local taproom Good Luck and Japanese restaurant Gyu San have teamed up to bring you a strong line up of craft beers. Happening on 3 and 4 March 2023, the event is the first of its kind in Singapore and will spotlight some 20 independent craft breweries – of which 13 are local small-batch craft beer makers.

The Urban Beer Festival 2023 will be held at the open space at Guoco Tower in Tanjong Pagar and will be the first time Singapore’s craft beer makers have gathered to showcase their goods since the pandemic.

You don’t have to worry about feeling thirsty at the festival as there will be overflowing options to choose from, with over 100 varieties of lagers, pale ales, session IPAs, stouts, and sours on display. But these aren’t just any random craft beers — many of them featured are actually award-winning labels.

Joining the scene and repping some local pride include craft beer pioneers like Brewerkz and Archipelago Brewery. There are also some familiar names participating in the festival like Brewlander, Lion Brewery, Rye & Pint, Specific Gravity, and The 1925 Brewing Co

Breweries from overseas will also be making an appearance at the festival. Some international names you can expect to find include Australia’s Cheeky Monkey Brewing Co, Rocky Ridge, as well as UK’s Thornbridge, and Vocation Brewery

A special collaboration beer will also be making its debut to commemorate the event — the Mash-Up Mixed Tape, a fruity and smooth rice cream ale with Nordic origins. It is also the brainchild of the representatives from all 13 local craft breweries.

But of course, you can’t (or rather, shouldn’t) drink on an empty stomach. That is where Gyu San – best known for their loaded Japanese sandos — comes in. They will be serving their famous wagyu fat-fried katsu sandos and wagyu fat-fried chips – which honestly are da bomb.

Other restaurants setting up shop at the festival include Japanese restaurant Wagatomo, Frenchie Wine Bar, and L’Arte Pizza

The fun doesn’t stop there. Each ticket holder will gain full-day access to Urban Beer Festival with exclusive freebies — don’t we all love free things? The freebies include a limited edition Urban Beer Fest Spiegelau Tulip Glass, a complimentary glass of festival beer, and a Bounceback Hangover Relief & Alcohol Detox Sleeve (something we reckon you’ll really appreciate the next morning).

The most exciting freebie is the free admission to PRISM club. However, you will only be able to redeem the free entry before 12am on 3 or 4 March — depending on when you will be attending the festival. Tickets can be purchased here
