Wan He Lou serves up unique Chinese dishes from lobster porridge to crocodile soup & more

If you’re looking for authentic Chinese cuisine, look no further than Wan He Lou, a restaurant that brings traditional Chinese flavours to Singapore. The restaurant has two outlets – one in a traditional shophouse tucked in the quaint Jalan Besar Heritage Trail, and the other in Beauty World

Known for their award-winning lobster porridge, the restaurant’s head chef discovered the recipe while on a fishing trip, and it became their signature dish.

It’s no surprise then, that you should try the restaurant’s lobster porridge (S$39), served in a steaming bowl – think loose rice grains swimming in rich golden soup enhanced with lobster roe accompanied by bright springy lobster, and topped off with spring onions.

Other than lobster porridge, Wan He Lou’s menu also includes mains, seafood, vegetables, soups, and desserts, with unique dishes to choose from. Dig into crispy battered lotus root with salted egg, savour flavourful wasabi ebiko prawns (S$19.90), or try the uniquely-shaped Green Dragon Vegetable with Minced Garlic (S$10.90).

Cleanse your palate with the restaurant’s Crocodile Cordyceps Soup (S$14.90), and finish off your meal with a refreshing Thai Coconut Pudding (S$9.90) or chewy mochi (S$9.90).

The interiors are also decorated with Chinese-styled furniture, from the lighting to the tables, keeping with its traditional theme – and during the festive season, the restaurant also offers festive set menus or seasonal speciality crabs, which vary throughout the year.

The restaurant has won many awards for its cuisine, such as the Top 25 Prestige and the head chef is a member of the World Association of Master Chefs – so you can be assured that you’ll savour every moment of your dining experience here.
