The bazaars in Malaysia (and for most of us, Johor Bahru), always hit different. There’s just something about the vibes and diverse selection of street food that makes us return every weekend.
Come 16 to 18 August 2024, you won’t need to brave the queues at the checkpoint, as one of Malaysia’s most popular food festivals, Absolut Food Fest, will be coming to Singapore for the first time ever!
Taking place at the open carpark in Kallang (near the National Stadium), this massive bazaar will feature a total of 130 F&B and retail brands from Malaysia and Singapore.
Aside from the standard bazaar fare, you can also look forward to “the most viral food brands”.
For instance, we can foresee long, long lines forming at Kunafa Aiwahhh, highly regarded as one of the OG kunafa stalls, with bestselling flavours like Red Velvet, Dark Indulgence, and Lumut Cheese (cheesy pistachio).
Other trendy food creations to look out for include the IG-worthy pour-it-yourself cakes (we hear the salted egg charcoal flavour is a must-order) from Absolut Cakes, as well as the croissant tarik from Flamboyant Goons and long fries from Keytatoes.
Don’t forget to also show support for beloved local brands like Frites, Rumi The Poet’s Cup, Broti, Yummy Takoyaki, and The Padangton (I’m still thinking about their beef tacos, which last made an appearance at the Geylang Serai Bazaar 2024).
But that’s not all, as you might even get to meet your favourite Malaysian celebrities and personalities. There’ll also be live performances and games with exciting prizes to be won, so you’re definitely in for an action-packed weekend.
Oh, and did I mention that admission is free?
