Yes, I’m back with another coffee post.
How can I not when new coffee spots seem to materialise here and there every few days?
This time, it’s Blue Bottle Coffee. For coffee fanatics like myself, you’ll instantly recognise it as the coffee chain with aesthetic glass-front interiors.
If you’ve yet to hear of this brand, please do me the honours to introduce this US-based coffee chain.
They may descend from California but their international outposts in Tokyo and Kyoto (Japan once again stealing the spotlight) are what get people talking.
I guess it shouldn’t be a surprise considering that their entire tradition is inspired by Japanese culture (the zen interiors are a tell-tale sign).
As they’ve established a strong following in Japan and China, it’s only right for them to make their presence in Southeast Asia.
And, they’ve chosen Singapore to set up the launch pad.
However, I don’t wish to lead you on so I’ll just say it now: don’t expect to enjoy a fresh cup of brew. This is because the pop-up (yes, it’s unfortunately available for a limited time only!) is a gift shop.
If you come down to Raffles City from 27 August 2024, you can get your hands on some of Blue Bottle Coffee’s famous merchandise, from drinkware and coffee-making accessories to their very own coffee beans.
Do note that they’ll house themselves at the flagship store of LUMINE, a Japanese multi-label fashion brand.
They’ve a wide selection of in-house roasts but the Craft Instant Espresso is undoubtedly their signature. It’s smooth, non-bitter and, best of all, quick and easy to make.
You can also obtain their ceremonial-grade and stone-milled Craft Matcha from Uji, Japan — a must-get for any matcha aficionado.
Of course, what’s a pop-up shop without tote bags, am I right? To celebrate the occasion, Blue Bottle Coffee has released a special reversible tote bag that’s only available in Singapore.
Even though the pop-up is temporary, it’s apparent that this opening is a way for them to test the local market. I formed this ‘theory’ due to the fact that coffee workshops and an exhibition will be held afterwards.
So, keep your eyes peeled for those!
