Taiwan might be known for their bustling street markets at night, but let’s not forget about their amazing breakfast eateries serving up delicious doujiang, toasts and more.

If you’ve missed travelling to the street food paradise, you’ll be stoked to know that there’s a new Taiwanese eatery in town — Breakfast Hola in Chinatown.

Just a stone’s throw from the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple, the eatery serves a variety of Taiwanese eats like egg crepes from S$4.50. They also come in lots of flavours like tuna, spicy cai poh, ham and more.

There’s also a huge selection of toasts and club sandwiches. Some interesting picks include the Strawberry and Egg Toast (S$4.80) and Bacon and Peanut Butter Club (S$7.90).

Naturally, when it comes to Taiwanese food, we can’t leave out the Authentic Taiwanese Braised Pork Rice (from S$4.80). Topped with braised savoury minced meat on a fluffy bed of white rice, this Taiwanese classic is pretty addictive, so you should probably order the large version at S$6.80

And here’s something that many other eateries don’t offer — if you’re looking for a healthier option, there’s also the Lady Boss Pork Brown Rice (from S$5.80), which is a version made with brown rice (as you can probably tell from its name).

To wash down your meal, there’s also a simple but substantial drink menu with items like Fresh Soy Milk (yessss doujiang!) for S$2, Good Morning Coffee (from S$2.50) and of course, the Good Morning Milk Tea (from S$2.50).

The dishes are all lovingly prepared by a Taiwanese chef, so you know that the authenticity of the bites are the real deal.

Food aside, the eatery also has a rather charming interior which makes it a very nice place to chill and catch up with your loved ones over a good meal. (It almost makes me feel like I’m in Our Times or You’re The Apple Of My Eye.)

I personally think that the white and yellow colour palette makes the space look really cheerful and wholesome — just like how the food is supposed to make you feel.

If you’re looking for a cosy spot to fill not only your tummy but also your soul, then Breakfast Hola is probably the next place that you should check out.
