There are tons of Japanese restaurants in Singapore dishing out incredible Japanese cuisine, but often, these can be rather pricey. That’s why we’re so glad to discover this cosy hidden gem serving Chirashi Bowls with the thickest and freshest cuts of sashimi, all at pocket-friendly prices.

To enjoy some great Japanese food without breaking the bank, head to Chirashizushi Shou at Bukit Timah Plaza.

The portions here are pretty generous, so if you prefer something smaller, go for the Mini Chirashi Don (S$11.90), which will give you a slightly smaller rice bowl with assorted sashimi, tamago, and ikura. As with all rice bowls on the menu, the dish also comes with free miso soup and salad.

You have to try the Kaisen Don, which is topped with the thickest slices of salmon, hamachi, hotate, ikura, and amaebi sashimi — as well as tamago to give the dish a touch of sweetness. Here, you’ll only find the freshest sashimi, which makes the S$20.90 bowl really worth it considering the high quality of the ingredients.

If you’re a fan of truffle, definitely give the Truffle Chirashi Don (S$15.90) a try. The bowl of sushi rice is topped with a heaping serving of cubed assorted sashimi, prawn, tako, tamago, and a dash of truffle oil to make the dish all the more aromatic.

Another must-try dish is the Hotate Ikura Don (S$18.90), a rice bowl with fresh scallop sashimi and ikura. The natural sweetness of the fresh scallops go well with the burst of ikura to create a refreshing dish that any scallop-lover would love.

Besides rice bowls, the restaurant also offers a variety of sashimi, ramen, maki, and side dishes. Their Fresh Oysters (S$8.90 for 2pcs), in particular, is highly popular. Served in ponzu sauce, they make a great appetiser or side dish to accompany your meal.
