If you’re enthusiastic about plants and/or have always wanted to attend a farmers market, this might just be the event for you! In the spirit of the upcoming Chinese New Year festivities, local nursery and garden centre Ban Nee Chen Nursery in Boon Keng is hosting a CNY Local Market, to be held on the weekends of 7 and 14 January 2023.
The nursery is offering a 15% discount on all plants, making it the perfect place to purchase some new greenery to spruce up your home (just in time for the new year). Several exciting activities also lie in store for visitors, such as flash fengshui readings, live calligraphy and portraiture, and so much more!
Furthermore, the market will also feature over 30 vendors, each selling their own unique offerings — more than enough options to grab a bite or engage in some retail therapy.
If plant shopping leaves you feeling a little peckish, you might want to check out these Bak Kwa Maple Mochi muffins from popular online bakery Gaily Bakes, as well as other CNY-inspired bakes such as Tangerine Guan Yin Financier shaped like gold bars (for the huats).
You can also beat the heat with kombucha from Belly Brews in a variety of tantalising flavours like Baby Chrysanthemum Pineapple and Oolong, alongside many other tasty beverage options.
Other than food and drinks, you’ll also be able to find a wide selection of booths selling handcrafted products such as beautifully embroidered pencil cases, earrings, and more. If that’s not your thing, you can even opt to get a temporary jagua tattoo with a design of your choice by The Little Jotter.
The best part? Entrance (and parking) is free for all visitors.
There’s no shortage of things to see, eat and do at this festive CNY Local Market, so start making your weekend plans now!
