Counting down to 2023 on 31 December, but don’t want to brave the crowds at some of the more popular places to watch the fireworks in Singapore? You’re in luck, as the festivities will be taking place a lot nearer to you at these 13 community clubs in the heartlands offering an exciting line-up of carnivals, activities, and even fireworks displays! 

Heartland locations with fireworks

1. Boon Lay

Ring in an exhilarating New Year at Boon Lay with sports tryouts and games booths that are sure to entertain the kids for hours! After that, you’ll get to admire the breathtaking fireworks display (at the carpark behind Savoy Theatre).

2. One Punggol

For those wondering when One Punggol would ever get a countdown celebration, you won’t have to wait any longer to know the answer, as you can look forward to partying the night away at its inaugural countdown party held in collaboration with Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC.

Popular local artistes like Benjamin Kheng and Juz B will be joining in the fun, and you can expect fringe activities like bouncy castles, movie marathons, face painting, and even a Premier League match between Manchester United and Wolverhampton for the football fans. After soaking in the festive atmosphere, end the year with a stunning fireworks display at Waterway Park.

3. Keat Hong

Immerse yourself in cultural performances and festive fun at Keat Hong’s countdown party, where you’ll get to watch performances from diverse backgrounds, including Japanese Drum, Malay Kompang, Bangra and many more exciting acts. You can even join in a ‘Singapore Swing’ inspired street party, with fringe performances, K-Kardio, and prominent celebrity appearances like Joakim Gomez and DJ Dionne. From good old times to the latest hit music, it’s a blast down nostalgia lane. Afterwards, catch the fireworks, which will be held at Block 309 Choa Chu Kang Avenue 4, and usher in the new year!

4. Our Tampines Hub

There’s been plenty of buzz about the countdown in Our Tampines Hub, and for good reason, as this action-packed line-up will last three days until 3 January 2023! You won’t want to miss the sports, arts, community, and lifestyle events like skating rink experiences, circus acts, and go-karting for the kids in this extravaganza. 

Although tickets to watch the fireworks display at Town Square are unfortunately already sold out, you can still enjoy the other activities and have an unforgettable community celebration.

5. MacPherson

This year’s countdown at MacPherson will see food trucks, live entertainment, and even a 360-view stage for an all-surrounded visual and audio experience that’ll keep the party going till late. The main streets in MacPherson will also light up when the night falls, not long before residents are treated to firework displays along Pelton Canal (behind MacPherson CC).

Community celebrations

6. Bukit Panjang

For those living in Bukit Panjang, you’re in for a treat as the Uncle Ringo Carnival will finally be landing in the West. Kids can enjoy rides like the popular Pirate Ship, mini train, and more, while the adults can savour snacks and watch dance performances. While there are no fireworks, you can look forward to a stunning countdown laser display commemorating the end of 2022.

7. Sengkang

Head down to Sengkang for a family-friendly celebration where you can get up close with SCDF and SPF vehicles, and learn more about community preparedness. There is plenty to do at this Sengkang Central Year End Carnival 2022, which includes the like of unwinding with game booths, food stalls, and more exciting fun! 

Do note that the carnival will end at 8pm, but you can always take it easy and countdown to the new year from the comfort of your home.

8. Woodlands Town

The party doesn’t stop in Woodlands, with two different zones of action-packed countdown fun. Younger kids can have a blast at the family-friendly carnival with bouncy castles and games, while the older kids can watch Jurassic World in a movie under the stars. There’ll also be a dance party and performances until the countdown, so you’re in for a night of fun and games!

Tickets are needed for the food booths and carnival games, and can be purchased at the CC.

9. Kaki Bukit

Although Kaki Bukit’s carnival lasts only three hours, there’s plenty to experience here. You’ll get to play exciting games, and if you’re feeling sentimental, pen down a resolution for the new year and get free ice-cream. Tickets to the carnival cost S$3, and can be purchased at Kaki Bukit CC.

10. Kolam Ayer

Got someone in the family who enjoys DIY and five-minute crafts? Take the kids to Kolam Ayer’s carnival, where you can enjoy DIY activity booths like fishing, knock–over-the-bottle, and more. The carnival will last from 10am to midnight, making for a fun-filled evening of bonding and games.

11. Toa Payoh East

13. Bishan

Bringing families, youth, and elderly together to usher in the New Year and promote family and community bonding, the celebrations in Bishan include activities organised according to two themes – ‘Family and Party’. You can expect a fun-filled party with stage games, bazaar and carnival activities, a movie screening, and DJ music for all to enjoy at only S$5!
