Lifestyle festival GastroBeats returns in June 2022 with street food, live music & bouncy castles

by Christabel Tan

I’m so glad we can finally attend large-scale festivals and events in Singapore — it’s finally starting to feel like pre-pandemic life. If you’re planning to soak up the vibes of i Light Singapore, you’ll be glad to know that outdoor festival GastroBeats is finally making a comeback at Marina Bay from 3 to 26 June 2022.

Touted as the ultimate festival with good food and even greater vibes, the 14,200sqm urban lifestyle park offers a variety of experiences including live performances, dining options, graffiti art, and a massive food-themed inflatable playground.

Food & retail

Local Streets showcases Singapore’s dynamic food culture by featuring traditional hawker fare alongside new-age concepts from street food vendors and home-based businesses like Nasi Lemak Ayam Taliwang, Haig Road Putu Piring, An Açaí Affair, and more.

No festival is complete without a spot of retail therapy — look out for vendors like Zenko Superfoods, Boxgreen, and Nut Culture peddling food, fashion, and beauty products.

If tasting menus by acclaimed chefs are your thing, book a ticket for Culinary Masters, which features different weekly collaboration menus presented by culinary curator Sarah Todd and chefs George Calombaris, Genevieve Lee and Derek Cheong of MasterChef fame. Diners can expect a variety of inventive Asian dishes and modern Australian cuisine.

Tickets, which include general admission to GastroBeasts, can be purchased here.

Live music

At last, live performances are back in full swing! Stay tuned for deets on the full line-up — we can’t wait to be entertained by our favourite musicians, dancers, and comedians on stage.

Play & create

Here’s a treat for the young kids (and young at heart). Jump, slide, play, and be taken on a journey of different food cultures at Jumptopia’s gigantic food-themed inflatable playground. Little ones get to take on the role of a Michelin inspector – going around to review and rate Kiztopia Friends’ “eateries”, which take on the form of eight unique inflatables.

Tickets for Jumptopia are priced at S$23 (Mon to Thurs) and S$26 (Fri to Sun) per pax, inclusive of general admission.

Festivals and art go hand in hand. Watch grattifi artists face off in a friendly battle organised by Graffight (held on Sundays), and take part in thrilling games like VR Beat Saber tournaments with your friends.

Do note that GastroBeats is a fully cashless event. Tickets start from S$9 (not inclusive of food and drink), with a 10% discount for Visa cardholders, and can be purchased here.

I’m all for the booze, beats, and bites at GastroBeats. I’ll see you there?
